To a certain degree I agree, especially if you drive around in the Norwood/Houghton/Rosebank areas, worst drivers in the world! Everyone think they own the roads! It is crazy!

In am to a certain degree in mixed feelings about johannesburg drivers. It is more a case of understanding the rules and driving the right roads. Most of us give each other space to move amongst lanes, enter streets and so forth. The problem is with the mentality of certain individuals, the majority actually work together.

I also believe that the survey should rather look at who causes the most road rage instead who is the aggressor. I think they will find that taxis often play a major roll.
 
To be honest I understand that taxis are pains. But I also know and except the way they are.

My main problem is the double cab drivers they the only guys that swear and fight with me on the roads, taxis are fine but the double cabs drivers are just assholes.
 
Have to agree with GavinMannon and JK8. Taxi drivers are bad, but not as bad as the luxury car drivers who don't look where they're going. The worst though is people in 4x4s. Not just guys, though they can get pretty riled. The women are just as bad. They don't bother to check for a bike before shifting their tanks across lanes, and then look dumbfounded or get angry when you pop up next to their window. Got that whole, "i'm bigger get out of my way" freudian thing going on.
 
I think people in 4x4's think they're invincible even if they're in an accident!

I can't agree here. Sure there are plenty of idiots in expensive cars but the people that show the most blatant disregard for all the rules of the road, that I see, are taxi drivers. Whether its not stopping at a traffic-light; cutting across 3 lanes of traffic to turn instead of waiting like everyone else; driving in the emergency lanes on the highways; speeding and just generally driving like assholes.

But thats them! Thats their style and the way they drive, we can deal with them, but why should we deal with their fans that want and act like the taxi drivers just because the taxis do it!

Why should we deal with them? Taxis are by far the worst! What makes it acceptable for them to do it?

Agreed! So should we all start driving like the taxis because they drive like that?

No then we'll end up like Italy. :D lol. The cops just need to enforce the rules of the road a bit better and stop hiding behind cameras.

The taxi industry is poorly regulated. These guys don't pay tax, half of them don't have drivers licences or permits, those that have them don't even carry them or refuse to produce them when asked by officers. On the M1/N1 between JHB and Midrand, taxis drive on the emergency lane like it was a fast lane. They use cellphones to warn each other of areas where metro police are stationed. I don't think the cops have the capacity to deal with all of this. The best we can do is adopt a new rule " taxis have right of way". I have learnt to just avoid/ignore them as much as possible.
