Road rage incident - any recourse?

My SO was involved in a road rage incident on Wednesday. No injuries or significant damage to car, luckily.

We got the licence plate number, but I was just wondering if there's any point in pursuing it further? The cops aren't likely to do anything, and I don't know if it's even worth the effort.
 
Sorry to hear that man. Real bunch of tossers on the roads today. You'll have to report it anyway from an insurance purpose (if you plan on repairing the damage through them) but it might not be worth the effort of laying charges, especially if there was no serious damage or injury.

Hope the SO is feeling better. Sure she must've been shaken.
 
Do it. For all you know its someone famous, and sometime during the next year he/she shoots their other half while they're taking a crap, then at least there is a record of unstable behavior.

If road rage becomes a benchmark for unstable behaviour, I've got bad news for a large portion of motorists. :erm:
 
Do it.

You may just get a nice detective that wants to do something constructive about it.

As a bonus the oke may spend the weekend in a holding cell.

Thanks. Yeah, she was a bit shaken. Guy bashed her window while swearing at her profusely. Threatened to stomp on her bonnet until a guy behind her shouted at him, at which point he took off. Security guards didn't do anything.

This all took place in a parking lot. She was waiting for a parking and when she found out she was holding up cars behind her started moving out of the way. But the guy who she was waiting for to pull out had a kid who dropped her sweets all over the road and was picking it up, so she couldn't move forward. When she was able to she moved out of the way.

This douche then decides to roar past her, stop dead in front of her and jump out of his car and proceed with his tirade.

My thinking is that if someone is this unstable and short tempered he could be beating his wife or kids or something.

I'm just wondering if the cops will actually do anything. The shopping centre said they don't have footage of the actual incident, but were able to get his plate from footage at the exits and with the help of a security guard who spotted it.

That is a total dick move from this guy. However, I doubt whether he will beat his wife and kids. I'm also not sure the cops will do anything. :(

Yeah, why did she change lanes without indicating or checking if she is going 70km/h and he is going 120km/h in his lane? But in this case it sound like his impatience is the issue and she did nothing wrong. If there was damage to the vehicle one can lay a malicious damage to property charge.

Just saying, sometimes one loses it because someone is trying to kill you by their sheer negligence and then they don't apologise. If I make a mistake I indicate apologies, never had a issue. If they apologise, then no issue. Its those retards that flat out ignore you that gets my blood boiling or think they did nothing wrong...

Implying that there was at least some damage - everyone has road rage, and swears and shouts etc. however, not everyone acts on it. Therein lies the difference.

That's a terrible story. But I don't see a crime here. Doesn't appear to be malicious damage to property, nor was she physically assaulted. Without knowing what he said to her, not sure whether a crimen injuria charge is warranted.

Only real basis is assault through words, if any.

I would lay a charge of assault. Just so this guy gets a wake up call. Even if nothing comes of it, there will be a record of his violent nature so that if he assaults someone else, there will be a paper work history of his bully attitude.
