So yesterday afternoon (3 May), I was in a better mood than usual due to the public holiday and the approaching weekend and not forgetting my end of week KFC Krusher until i got on the N2.

In all fairness, there was the normal idiot drivers and taxis and trucks but i didnt let that get to me. Until this guy in a Getz cut infront of me with centimetres to spare without signalling. Now at a speed of 120... that was cutting it close but since i was with SO i chose to let it go.

Then i noticed he was on his cell which ticked me so i swore n hooted abit which made me feel better. Then he did the unthinkable... after 3 or 4 min... he did it again... Now i really got angry and he was still on his cell

Despite protest from my calmer half... I followed this guy for over half an hour... cutting him off every few minutes and then slowing down to like 60. Eventually I was at a robot in front of him going at a snails pace that i decided he had enough and drove home.

In hind sight... it was very dumb of me but it really helped me feel better and hopefully taught dis idiot a lesson. Now my SO says that was road rage and my defence was there is no reason for him to be an idiot .

Any of you guys got any experiences of road rage?

I don't have road rage at all. I am calm when driving. One thing that get's me very irritated is people that drive close to me when behind me and then start flashing at me to move out the way when there is a row of cars in front of me. Do they expect every single car to move out so they can have the whole lane to themselves?

On a few occasions I then just smile and slow down which pisses them off SO MUCH, but it's a bit risky because those types are the ones that will probably ram me from road rage.

Generally the quality of driving is complete rubbish in South Africa, and generally the people driving badly are the *******s that get road rage when they can't have the whole road to themselves.

Yes, people putting my life in danger by doing reckless things...

I was controlling traffic at an accident scene Thursday night (we had a accident scene on the same road Tuesday, 150m up the road, very busy week).

So one side of the road is obstructed so I put up cones, and then control the traffic. Flow is heavier from one side than the other side.

This dumbass in a grey corsa wouldn't stop when shown to till I made as if to his his car with my baton (the reason I have my baton is these **** drivers). He lowered the window a bit and said "why you wanna hit my car?" Really?! I shouted at him "because you are endangering my and other peoples lives, now ****ing reverse!". There was space behind him, the other people in the 100s of care that passed were all decent and some even thanked.

I know he wanted to get out of the car when I told him to reverse, luckily for him he didn't...

I mean driving well be so much be better if people just follow 2 rules. Keep left, pass right and signal when changing lanes and do so when it is safe.

I mean i see people cutting in front of trucks in traffic because there is a "gap". Little do they know that trucks need that space to come to a stop

Driving can be such a nice freeing experience if people follow those 2 simple rules

Yes, and next time get out of the fast lane when I drive behind you.

:p

I slowed to allow a car to cut across my lane in front of me right to left. Unusually (lately) the driver indicated his thanks by waving and in response i lifted two fingers of my hand off the top of the steering wheel - meaning "sure".

Next thing all hell breaks loose. He slams on breaks almost causing me to ram him from behind, starts making furious gestures, glaring at me in the mirror. I looked around to see what could be annoying him but couldn't work out his problem. He moves slowly across my path into th lane on my left and as i pass him i look over and the guy is mouthing off at me, shaking his fist and virtually spitting blood. He's a black guy.

When i arrived at work i told everyone what had happened and the one chap said that when i showed my 2 fingers in acknowledgement of his thanks the driver understood i was making my hand look like a gun and i was threatening to shoot him. He says i must always show my full open hand.

Any comments from the black dudes here? Is that true?

I only use the middle finger. I've had no issues with people of any race not understanding what I mean.

Followed someone for over half an hour?

:wtf:

Psycho, sheesh.

I don't get worked up on the roads, there's no point at all.

People who drive while on their phones are worst than every taxi driver in SA put together.
I hate them, but I just accelerate past them, sometimes I hoot and wave.

Saw an incident yesterday afternoon, some idiot guy with no care in the world crossing lanes slowly and not indicating. The guy infront of me starts throwing things at his car, milkshake, coke cans, empty boxes, aerosol cans etc.
Was quite funny :D

I used to be quite bad with road rage, but now I take a developmental approach. Instead of shouting things like "Use an indicator, ****", I shout things like "I believe that one day, you'll figure out what those levers next to the steering wheel are".
