how to block this? and if possible send a virus back to the caller that explodes their fscking data centres.

Are those the calls that go: "You have a call on this line, please hold"?

Those drive me insane and I just put the phone down anyway

Same here.

If they don't have the courtesy to phone me directly, then I don't have the courtesy to hold for them.

I just put them on hold so the machines can talk to each other.

I've installed Truecaller on my cell phone, which id's phone no's so I can see which are spam. I just block them straight away

I'm talking about my work phone by the way :p The factory workers get calls all day and I have to deal with it

I've been getting a lot of them recently. Never got before

Today was from 010 591 4460 Funeral cover. Didn't bother to listen from whom.

They harvested your number somehow.

Whenever we have to give out our number, I give out a bogus number to keep the spamz0rs away.

use the dma opt out list...it doesnt block all but stops the big banks and insurers from contacting you, as they are members.

Direct Marketing Association Opt Out Service

How to opt out of receiving offers by mail, telephone or SMS

Opt-Out is a free service from the Direct Marketing Association (DMA) of South Africa.
If you like, you can have your address, e-mail address, telephone and cell number removed from lists used to promote goods and services. The DMA will inform businesses who are members of the association that you do not wish to receive their offers.

Three easy ways to opt out:

SMS DMA followed by your ID number to 34385.
Call the DMA Call Centre on 0861 DMA DMA (362 362).
Visit www.dmasa.org to access the Opt Out Register.t

The one I got asked me to press 1 or something if I want them to call me back. Which I did.

When the call came through I waste as much of their time as I can, ask them where they got my number and then ask to speak to a manager. Who I would have then shouted at if I got one.

I only ever had one of these.

did this last year already....

Hanging up on these calls just puts you on a "contact again" list.

Next time, hold on and wait to speak to a consultant. When they answer, calmly tell them to remove your number from their system. They will be forced to do so by law iirc.

I have been getting less and less calls since I have started to do that.

My Huawei has a built in harassment filter. I have a few numbers added to it, new ones make the list as and when they call me.

Installed truecall on my phone, will give it a whirl and see...

I also mentioned using True Caller in a similar thread quite a while ago. Works like a bomb. You do not even hear or see blocked calls and sms'...

Yep, I received 2 calls yesterday from 010 591 4460 and didn't even notice, truecaller had automatically identified and blocked it.
