Robot Vacuum Cleaner

I investigated this a while back, at the time the Neato Robotics machines seemed best. Never committed though due to range limitations.

They don't work too well if you are messy and leave stuff lying around. The less cluttered a room, the better. And they chomp up network cables and phone extension leads. And carpets and rugs with long frilly edges aren't good

A year since this thread was last posted to. I'm keen on getting one of these specifically because we have a dog that sheds hair all over the place. Anyone have opinion, experience, advice, propaganda or slander to share on the subject of robot vacuums in South Africa?

Trade the dog in for a cat ... :D

I am considering buying the Hoover Total Home 2in1 Pole Vacuum Cleaner (https://www.takealot.com/hoover-cruise-total-home-2-in-1-pole-vacuum-cleaner/PLID49829194) for our large house with a lot of dust since we live on a small holding.
However, I see I can get a robot vacuum cleaner for R550 more: Milex - Intellivac 3-in-1 Robot Vacuum & Mop (https://www.takealot.com/milex-intellivac-3-in-1-robot-vacuum-mop/PLID52750467).
In addition to the dust we have 2 dogs and 2 toddlers that help to get the place dirty. I like the idea that the Milex is a vacuum & mop combination, where the Mi Robot only vacuums.
I would appreciate any reviews or comments as I have never owned an upright cordless vacuum or robot vacuum.

Milex looks like garbage, no intelligent mapping. I ended up with with the Neato, had it a few years and love it. Also been hearing lots of good thing about the Xiaomi Roborock vacuum.

I got the xiaomi roborock. It’s awesome.
Maps the house. Wifi connected. And you can set up specific zones to clean in addition to spot cleaning.
