So i was supposed to move to a new place on the 1st August. I signed up for fibre with RocketNet ans specifically asked them to start the account on the first. I arranged with the agent to install fibre at the new place and 29th July it was installed.

31st i get a bill from the 29th July to end of August. I mail them to say please dont activate the account as the house is not yet ready. I will contact them mid August to activate the line.

On the 1st of August they deduct the whole amount from my account. When i complain they say Openserve has been billing them from the 29th so they have to bill me from the 29th.

Is this legal? What are my options on this?

I thought of reversing the debit order, blocking them from taking money from my account and signing up with a different provider.

Please help, 'cause this is fudged up.

If a new order is placed once the line is installed the ISP gets billed. The best way is to arrange an appointment for the install closer to the time but that might not always be a viable option because if there is a B number in the holding pool for the address Openserve will automatically migrate that B number and activate the line triggering billing.

I can't speak for other ISPs but I always suggest to clients not to signup unless you are ready to get the line installed because there is no scheduling of order placements and the turnaround time will vary depending the number of installs Openserve has the time you place an order.

Thanks for the feedback. But thats information that should have communicated before hand. I feel blindsided with this.
