Hey there, so I am considering moving ISP's and found both rocketnet and wondernet offering 20mb for R699 on openserve.

Can anyone give me advice on which ISP would be more favorable than the other in terms of support, billing etc

Can't speak from experience since have not been with neither, but for Rocketnet you can check out here:

Wondernet is Seacoms customer ISP

I've been on RocketNet since April last year.

Speeds are good and technical support is quick, except when the support ticket becomes an infrastructure issue (line provider). In my case Vumatel always took 1-2 days to resolve, which is not something RocketNet can help.

Billing wise, they have my details for debit order, but I always pay by credit card every month. I've never been debited.

I was with rocketnet for about a year and had no complaints. I only moved when gigabit became available (and they didn't offer it).

Ah.. if that's the case I would avoid them on principle just for their **** peering policy.

Hellopeter is a cesspool.

I was with wondernet for a year and it was fine 98% of the time.

Fair enough I just feel that sometimes hello peter saves one from burning their fingers. I think companies need to respond to such complaints on the platform so that potential customers can see the company is trying to resolve the issues.

A friend of mine works at Wondernet or Seacom (whatever they choose to be called these days) and he's always complaining about the amount of calls that come in each day. He also
can get free internet from the company but chooses not to purely out of principle due to their sh*t peering policy and due to the fact that support, even for staff, is at a snail's pace. Do with this
as you wish but I'd avoid them due to their peering policy

I felt they were shaping me. Uptime was almost 100% though.

The problem is Seacom and Rocketnet bandwidth are basically the same so I would avoid them both if you're worried about shaping.

As you'll see from the below link most of Rocketnet's bandwidth comes from Seacom.

Hi @shez RocketNet does not shape or throttle our customers, this is how we believe the internet should be. We are not perfect in any way...because we are still human :) but we do strive to be the best at what we do.

We would love to welcome you to our network and if you have any additional questions, please feel free to chat with us on our Telegram / Whatsapp chat. Our chat lines are open till 8PM tonight.

Regards,

RocketNet Ops Team
