Mine (my Roku 3) runs on wifi all the time. Haven't had a single issue. Even tested the other day with a reasonably high bitrate MKV (18Mbps) and it had no problems with it, started up quickly and didn't buffer at all. All depends on the quality of the wifi and the equipment you are using. If I did start to have issues I would however look there first.

And what equipment are you using for interests sake?

Also, how is the range (Roku from router)?

If you run into streaming issues though having a server on a wifi link is going to complicate your troubleshooting.

I'd make a plan to rather wire the server.

The WiFi is really stable which is the only reason I considered this. I can connect the server back up in the lounge but am wanting to tidy up and hide the server away - also that way I can use the new PC for other tasks if I so wish (once they release the xbox one with the remote play I can use it to play when the lounge is occupied) but the main concern is Plex server.

Will be building a new PC with i5 4590 cpu, still deciding on motherboard and 4GB Ram (might bump this up to 8GB if I feel the need). Also not sure if I need a dedicated graphics card or if the onboard will work.

The roku is literally next to the router connected via LAN. The server could either go back next to the Roku or preferably moved to my desk where I work from and then connect via WiFi.

I also haven't had any buffering at all on 1080p over wifi running on Plex/Roku3. I live alone, so the streaming was the only traffic on the wifi network.

Sod that - I'm not running cable when wifi does the trick perfectly.
 
I've also migrated from cable to Wifi for my Roku.

The Roku sits right next to a DD-WRT router which is connected via cable to a DSL-2750u ADSL modem in another room. I haven't had any issues so far. Except something which came to mind when I read these last few posts.

My wife's phone cannot use the wifi unless she's literally a few centimeters from the router. I should reconnect the Roku via cable and see whether it's causing this issue.

I couldn't control my TV easily when my Roku was on wifi. Connecting the Roku via cable fixed this issue.

I actually forgot to verify this last night. Will try it tonight for sure

You can always PM me and persuade me. I find myself streaming more from the XB1 or PC and not the Roku. It just sits there 95% of the time.

I just received mine from Takealot and it came with what I assume is an American 2 pin plug and no adapter.

Which adapter do you guys suggest I buy?

That is how they come from Amazon as well

I went to Game and bought an el cheapo travel adaptor to change the pins to SA. Both have been running fine for over a year with this setup

I would email Takealot and complain about this to be honest.

I bought one from them as well and it came with a Roku branded SA plug. Maybe email them and swap your unit for another one, you shouldn't have to buy an additional converter plug just to use the thing.
 
So Netflix is working like a charm, just one question. How do I see all content, the interface doesn't seem to show everything.
