In the words of Mike Smit - video should never stream over WIFI
I used to have my Roku's running on wifi but there was occasional buffer - especially with 1080 content. After running cable and plugging them into the LAN, I no longer experience buffering..
Mine (my Roku 3) runs on wifi all the time. Haven't had a single issue. Even tested the other day with a reasonably high bitrate MKV (18Mbps) and it had no problems with it, started up quickly and didn't buffer at all. All depends on the quality of the wifi and the equipment you are using. If I did start to have issues I would however look there first.
