Hi chaps,

In the process of putting a floating shelf under the TV and want to run a roku power cable through it to the plug, but the rokus adapter cable is far too short. Need to extend it or find a compatible power adapter with a long cable. I've looked online and been to HI fi Corp and several other stores with no luck, I found an ellis adapter but it's too short too. Any ideas on how / where to find something locally? Can one cut and extend the cable? Any advice is appreciated.

There are many different barrel connector sizes so you need to measure the plug accurately with a caliper etc. Here are a few ideas on how to differentiate between 2.1mm and 2.5mm internal holes for example. Alternatively you should be able to get details about the plug size if you Google for a suitable power supply for your Roku model.

If your Roku plug uses a standard 5.5mm (OD) X 2.1mm (ID) barrel connector/socket you might be able to find something suitable at a Chinese store that sells CCTV equipment. Alternatively Mantech, Yebo Electronics, Communica etc. might be able to help with smaller individual barrel connector/socket sizes. Geewiz has some standard CCTV splitter cables with 5.5mm X 2.1mm connectors/sockets.

Some Mica hardwares also sell an inline female 2 pin Euro socket which you could wire up with two core flex cable and plug the roku's power brick into that using a flat to round adapter.

I have just ordered a few of these from Aliexpress so that I can easily switch my B315/B618 LTE routers over to battery power without removing the power cords from them directly during loadshedding etc.
