Yeah I wanted to try it but can't convince the wife that white is an okay colour.
Still the claims are quite bold, 10 degrees, losing 30% of that it is still a 7 degree difference, if even 3 of that 7 is real its possibly worth it.
I would love to get some real world numbers from someone who has tried this stuff.
 
@ Marakker - thank you! Recently had the isotherm 145mm installed by roofinsulations.co.za

In terms of the installation, Mark and his 'A-team' were superb - the vacuum cleaner is a beast of note :-)! They vacuumed my ceiling which had a whack of dust and debris and then installed the isotherm. Early days (waiting for the weekend which has a 34celsisus day forecast), but the difference is very noticeable.

Will feedback after a few more weeks - Feb is generally a cooker in the City Bowl!

for vacuum (which is more time intensive than isotherm install), supply and install of isotherm 145mm, I was billed approx. R110 per sqm
 
For a cheap (but crude) solution to vaccuum a ceiling, buy a Leaf Blower and set it on vaccuum mode.
Trimtech/ Ryobi goes on special for R400/R500 every so often at Makro

I paid the complex gardener to do the vaccuuming for me (...make sure the person knows how to walk in a ceiling!) Takes a few hours to finish, and end the result was very pleasing.

... total cost was way under R10/sqm.
Plus you end up with a "free" Leaf Blower still with the 1 or 2 year guarantee!

Next step ... getting the insulation guy to come in and quote me just for the insulating part.

Good idea, will wait till winter or a cold spell and do this as I have one of these.

Where is the cheapest place to buy isotherm?

Cheapest place to buy is actually from the installers. I was quoted R89/m2 installed. Not alot of dust in my ceiling so don't see much value in vacuuming.
 
So I finally got my insulation done last week!
Used the green stuff (Think Green, mentioned in my previous posts).
The installation guys just rip it to size and lay it snugly between the horizontal roof trusses. It's easy to move out of the way and put back into place if I need to get any work done in the ceiling.
Total cost was around R7k for my roof which is about 110sqm. That's cheaper than any of the other PET insulation quotes I'd got, and cheaper than the guys who have posted previously on the thread... Us charous don't rest until we find the best deals! :D
Admittedly, my ceiling is a super simple 110sqm rectangle... no walls up there. So that probably helped.

As for the performance of the insulation:
It's made a nice difference... I'm right on the banks of the Jukskei so I'm starting to feel winter temperatures in the mornings (I really need to get a thermometer to quantify the outside vs inside temps).
Given the way it was going in the last couple of weeks, I probably would have needed to use some heating this past week if I hadn't had the insulation installed. So it's already effective.
The absolute test, though, is how far I can go into May before needing to switch on the heating.
I will report back on the first day I light up the heater.

Thanks for this. Seriously considering either Think Green or ISOTherm/ISOFoil for my home.
 
I'm looking at installing ISOTHERM. Here's the pricing I have so far:

DIY:
100mm = R38.6 per sqm
135mm = R55.8 per sqm
145mm = R60 per sqm

Installer:
145mm = R80 per sqm
