I just got a PM that reminded me that it's a good time to feedback on my experience with 6 months of hindsight.
So my single piece of advice to anyone wanting to get roof insulation:
DIY
If I could turn, turn back the hands of time
Then my darlin' you'd still be mine
Sorry ... got carried away...
If I could turn back time, I'd definitely DIY, which would then mean I'd save the labour cost, and I'd be able to afford IsoTherm as opposed to ThinkGreen.
ThinkGreen works, don't get me wrong... but I would only have needed to spend marginally more than I did (if I was patient, and I hunted for a good special) to buy IsoTherm raw material (minus any labour cost) and then I'd do the installation myself , or at worst , with the assistance of any random handyman/gardener/cousin.
These "professionals" don't really do anything that you can't do yourself. And (unless you find someone who really takes his trade seriously, which is a very very rare occurrence) you'll always find that you would pay way more attention to detail than a "pro" would because this is for your own home.
