I just came across the below news article. Has anyone here on Eskom registered their rooftop solar, had a meter from Eskom installed and had to pay inspection cost for compliance? If so please share what it cost and procedure please.

NO!

I wonder if anyone has actually been approached and asked to provide proof of registration.
No one has said anything on here, unless all the CoCT people have registered.

I JUST got solar, so no

I also don't plan on doing so unless I absolutely have to. Our municipality is useless enough, and yet I have to pay them for utter incompetence. I'm not paying a cent more than I have to. F*** those clowns

Exactly:p my solar is protecting me from them I mean they literally gave me 3 weeks of no power.

I've tried to look at the Eskom website for the forms that person said was available. Nothing coming up in searches. Anyone got the link?

So the worst Eskom can do, is to disconnect me from their grid. Which is fair. Since I am not going to give in to their inane demands.

I rather reorganise my finances and go 90% plus offgrid with genny as backup.

In fact we can already make be at 90%, if my wife curtails certain habits of her, where she uses large appliances when the sun does not shine.

Apparently CoCT is using aerial photography. But who knows, can't see CoJ doing that
Aerial imagery has been used for a very long time by the Surveyor General and Deeds Office, for various purposes, one of them being rates and taxes. So solar panel identification can be easily done, if not already in place. They outsource it, and from what I can remember, it's satellite, aircraft and even drone in some instances.

Pretty much the same data that Google Maps uses, below 2 random houses in my area:

Only if you're connected to their grid.
Last mile is your municipality.
