100%Time for someone to come up with a roof tile panel camo.
But yeah, I'm of the fsck 'em mindset at this point. They should sort out the birds' nests of illegal wires and make themselves compliant first.
Just paint them to match your roof, or maybe paint the roof to match themTime for someone to come up with a roof tile panel camo.

I thought that too but I’m with Eskom direct and I know that some of their Koeberg employees drive past my house to work. You cannot miss the panels on my roof.Do not listen to the little Eskom defender. Listen to spiff. They are not able to fine or tax because they don`t know who has solar. If you register they will tax you for using sunlight.
I’m with Eskom directly and not with a municipality. When I installed solar in 2020 I did enquire if it needs to be registered and they said no. Now all of a sudden??? I’m concerned they want to start charging the ones with solar. For the past 2 months my electricity usage was R100 and my service charge R500 for 2 months. Ridiculous. I’m mostly off grid. Only my oven and if solar geyser is not hot enough then I have to use Eskom to top up.Only if you're connected to their grid.
Last mile is your municipality.
Did you have the meter installed or did they install for free?I am a direct eskom prepaid customer
I don’t feed in. Mine is a hybrid. I’m just concerned that the reticle aid some people who registered had to pay R25-50k for Eskom to come and check compliance. If you don’t want to feed into the grid then I would ignore and just get CoC for insurance.
The prepaid meter was already installed when I bought my house. I could not even register the meter in my name as Eskom website gave an error. So its not in my name, but I am now cool with it.Did you have the meter installed or did they install for free?
And this is why I said to ignore them. Their demands are pure extortion. Racketeering is another word.I don’t feed in. Mine is a hybrid. I’m just concerned that the reticle aid some people who registered had to pay R25-50k for Eskom to come and check compliance.
Yup, rest of the world, hey you have solar great, South Africa. Hey you have solar, pay us more for not using usAnd this is why I said to ignore them. Their demands are pure extortion. Racketeering is another word.
Can't be 25-50K just to check compliance, surely ? I mean rebate is capped at R15K. In which world would it make sense to use Solar if it costs that much for just compliance ?I don’t feed in. Mine is a hybrid. I’m just concerned that the reticle aid some people who registered had to pay R25-50k for Eskom to come and check compliance.
They have their process yes. The above is for Eskom, but CoJ and CoCT have theirsI assume that this is only for direct Eskom customers only ? Or is City Power/COJ also considering same ?

Eskom’s nasty surprise for solar users
Eskom warned that homeowners and businesses need to register their solar systems, which comes as a surprise to many who could now pay upwards of R50,000.dailyinvestor.com
The golden rule with anything in South Africa is that it's easier to ask for forgiveness than it is to ask for permission.
Now that DA is in the GNU, suddenly their little socialist tax the sun scheme is being rolled out everywhere in SA. Vavi DA! Amanda DA!
That’s another reason why I said to ignore them. It's much easier to resist with Eskom than it is with a municipality like the City of Cape Town. If you tell Eskom to go f themselves, the worst they can do is cut you off. Municipalities have far greater powers to make your life difficult, like cutting off your water, adding fines to your rates account, refusing to issue clearance certificates when you want to sell your house, etc.
Eskom if you're an Eskom direct customer can also block the sale of your house. It's much easier to resist with Eskom than it is with a municipality like the City of Cape Town.
