Rooftop solar registration Eskom

Please note that ESKOM will not allow the finalisation of the Seller’s account unless all arrears and current charges are paid up to date.
Though I mean I guess you could try, but the conveyancer might have issues

That’s another reason why I said to ignore them.
Don't pay your bills. Get sent warnings. Ignore them.

Court sends you warnings. Ignore them.

Police arrive at your door. Ignore them.

Cops kick in your door. Ignore them.

They put you in cuffs. Ignore them.

Get put in cell with rapists and murderers. Ignore them.

The criminals push you down and get ready to have their way with you. Ignore them.

If they enforce, soooo many people will flick them the bird and just go off grid.

But I am prepaid, even when I bought the house, no one ask anything from Eskom, just COCT rates clearance, Plumber certificate and COC.

If you bought the house, no one will ask you anything from Eskom/rates/plumber/COC because that is on seller's and not on buyer.

There is no Eskom account it is prepaid, hence there was no requirement for that. My bank that finance the loan, request that and the lawyers make sure you get a copy of the important documents. No eskom account was provided, since it was prepaid.

Ah prepaid is a different story.

Did you open the new account in your name?

What a drama queen. Explain how the police will rock up if you don’t register your off grid solar system on your Eskom direct account. Also explain where I said to not pay your bills?

You literally said to someone to ignore Eskom and municipalities. Ignoring these entities may start off with few to low consequences but these can escalate to arrests. People have been thrown in jail for repeatedly crossing Eskom and if I remember correctly the Westville rate payers association were warned that if they withheld taxes from Ethekwini they ran the risk of criminal charges.

So ya, go ahead ignore them and see what happens when you ignore them for long enough.

No, I said to ignore Eskom. Municipalities didn't even enter the conversation. The topic was about eskom direct customers. Stop putting words in my mouth.

Do not listen to the little Eskom defender. Listen to spiff. They are not able to fine or tax because they don`t know who has solar. If you register they will tax you for using sunlight.
Oh i'm sure they'll float some tender for R100million to get a few Google Maps photos worth R20k and nail a few of us....

Eskom and munis.jpg

This reply reads like you're referring to multiplies entities. I.E. Both Eskom and munis. If you'd said "That's another reason why I said to ignore Eskom" there'd be no ambiguity.

And even still, I'd put money on Eskom having some sort of legal route to pursue you beyond civil court if you push them far enough. The same way they can eventually arrest people who tamper with their meters or don't pay their bills, they probably (in theory) could go after you for non-registration if there's a loss of revenue or potential damage to their systems if you ignore them for too long.

Oh brother. The post I was replying to just said munis have greater powers so why would you assume my them word is referring to Eskom and munis? Learn to read for meaning.

I disagree, if you are physically disconnected, there can be no danger to their network and no need to register.

I am seriously considering getting an electrician to terminate the connection into a proper transfer switch, and removing my house supply wires from that switch. This way nothing from house can affect their network.

In a statement, Eskom says residential customers with unregistered small-scale embedded generator (SSEG) installations up to 50kW (typically 5kW to 10kW for households) could qualify for an exemption from registration-related fees (application, tariff conversion and connection fees) until March 2026.

No, COCT has appointed a company to take photos by plane on a more regular basis than google maps. I suspect COCT/DA helped the GNU to implement the same. This is why suddenly Eskom is herding the cash cows back into the kraal.
