as usual, they full of **** - why can't they give clear step by step instructions on their website on what needs to be done? Very difficult to find.
Also they mentioned they have been communciating with customers since what 2021 about this via their bills they receive. So how then do they communicate with the prepaid users since we don't get bills. Bunch of absolute muppets.
From Eskom:
Good day:
I thank you for taking the time to listen to us yesterday, the summary from yesterday is as follows, if you are still using Eskom electricity and your Eskom electricity is powering your PV system whether feeding back or not we consider that to be a grid-tied connection (which is unsafe and not a legal connection).
We are therefore appealing to those with such connections to fill out the attached form labelled
ESKOM APPLICATIO FORM FOR SSEG. Please read that form and fill out and send back to my email address. We shall then liase with you more in detail on a one on one basis where you can pose all your additional questions and concerns, we shall then furnish you with a quote, and once you pay we shall normalise your supply, you will
not pay for the meter, you will
not pay the conversion fee, you will only pay a deposit
(for most of you on prepaid this will amount to between R4840 and R7260). We shall fit you with a new smart meter which has the additional benefit of providing at least 10amps supply during loadshedding at stages 1-4, and credit you with units generated from your generator.
This is the most important part of the email, only read further is you are clear so far and want to know more and if you have an off-grid system.
If your Solar PV’s are not powered by Eskom and it is a standalone system completely independent of Eskom supply please get engineer to fill out form labelled
CUSTOMER STANDBY STANDALONE DECLARATION.
The other documents are for your additional reading requested by other attendees that speak to the
compliance certificate to be completed by the Engineer once you normalise your grid-tied connection, an
inspection checklist we use when we normalise the supply and below is a breakdown of the tariff and its monthly costs of the new tariff Homeflex 1 for most of you on prepaid supply.
Just call an ECA(SA) registered engineer and get them to explain the process.
