This reply reads like you're referring to multiplies entities. I.E. Both Eskom and munis. If you'd said "That's another reason why I said to ignore Eskom" there'd be no ambiguity.

And even still, I'd put money on Eskom having some sort of legal route to pursue you beyond civil court if you push them far enough. The same way they can eventually arrest people who tamper with their meters or don't pay their bills, they probably (in theory) could go after you for non-registration if there's a loss of revenue or potential damage to their systems if you ignore them for too long.

Eskom has a legal claim to enforce all properties to pay for grid maintenance (availability levy) even if there is no grid connection. This is already in place in COCT. They also have a legal claim to inflate the connection tax if usage is low. They will say that some of the maintenance money is lost because of no usage payments. Nersa has already proclaimed this many times.

as usual, they full of **** - why can't they give clear step by step instructions on their website on what needs to be done? Very difficult to find.

Also they mentioned they have been communciating with customers since what 2021 about this via their bills they receive. So how then do they communicate with the prepaid users since we don't get bills. Bunch of absolute muppets.

My assumption will remain that this has nothing to do with what's good for the people of SA. It has been clear for years that Eskom wishes to slow down home solar in SA, one way or another. They sat on their hands for years! Decades! With regards to how South Africans should get solar. Simply because - They didn't want South Africans to get solar. They didn't spend that time implementing good practices and processes. They didn't engage with South Africans. No... They just uses a long line of discouraging tactics. And we all know why. This is just more of that.

It's Eskom's choice to be reasonable, or to be seen as thugs engaging in common thuggery. And I'm sorry to say... Thus far...

They are better known for failing their own public mandate for decades. To supply the people of SA with consistent and affordable electricity. Their raison d'être in the first place!!! Show me 1 municipality that does not have the same requirement. Many already require registration, and many will require it soon. They have even made it law to register. To keep a tight leash on the cash cow. Solar systems goes against the legitimate socialist monopoly enforced by the DANC.

Eskom WILL NOT be happy with your solar system until they shafted you milked you for ALL the money they can and just go for seconds because they can. Well the idea is not to provide a proper requirements the idea is to dream up requirements establish a mutually beneficial contract between Eskom and that party and then shaft you without loop. That way both parties get milk you dry AND get to do it again and again with more requirements. As long as it is not written down they can will do whatever they want.
