Hi Guys

Has anyone used these SSD drives? Looking for some feedback.

Thanks
Kitty

They were good. Who knows since they changed internals a month or two back. I've pulled their sales until I have more info.

They've changed from using decent (think Micron, Intel) components to the cheapest Chinese stuff available. All current reviews on speed and reliability up to around May this year are invalid as it's not the same drive anymore - at all.

Rogueware has the intention of hitting the lowest price point in the market by a large amount. To do so, they need to use the cheapest of the cheap internals, but to build the brand name they had to use decent parts. If you look at the physical drives you'll see the part number is different than it was at the beginning of the year (an H has been tacked on the end), even though they're still advertised as the same thing with the same part number.

Speed has probably not changed much/at all (they were some of the slower drives to begin with, but at the price you couldn't complain), but reliability? No clue, and that's a big thing and I'm not prepared to continue selling them until they build their reputation from scratch.

Rogueware M.2 PCIe NX200M 1TB 1024.2 GB
Currently running my main OS got it at a pretty good deal R950 Vat Incl
Will see how it holds up over the years
Total Host Writes: 2384 GB

Still at 100% Health

NX200M sadly don't have the box on hand anymore but recall it only being an NX200M as per box design and invoice and part no

The box (and likely invoice) hasn't changed. The disti even lists the old part number on their stock file, so you don't get what you're ordering anymore. I questioned it when I saw the serial number has a new format and the drive itself has physically changed.

Will have to keep an eye on new stock coming in i know we have not had an RMA request as of yet but with the new drives being changed and built cheaper i am sure this will change might have to look at an alternative for my end users then.

Cant complain about the Rogueware SATA SSD quality, I recently bought one and very happy with it - you need to read up about the brand more - and look at the chips inside the drives, they the same as those used in way more expensive drives. And they are in a similar league to Lexar, Western digital etc. The Rogueware SSD drives are not made in SA. Rogueware assembles other peripherals and computer furniture in SA only.

Their SATA SSDs are way faster than 2.5" spindle HDDs like WD and Toshiba. and makes a dramatic improvement to any device that used to run on that type of HDD. So if you want to breathe new life into an older laptop I would not simply overlook this brand. In my experience the actual read/write speed was better than a number of other well known SATA SSD brands.

The NX100S performance is similar to the Crucial BX series SATA SSDs. And installing the Rogueware SSD was a breeze. It has a 3 year warranty and will most likely have the same lifespan as other similar consumer SSDs on the SA market.

I have no vested interest in this brand, but it deserves more credit than its getting on this forum.

I think the issue is some of their really budget ssd's use very low quality parts, it's like playing with fire.

I have had 3x 1TB NX100S fail on me. They were bought in May 2023 so I assume they are the type with inferior hardware? I returned one in Sept 2023 and now had two more fail on me this weekend. I am not sure if one failed earlier than the other as it was used as a mirror and due to the fact that I don't log into the machine regularly I did not notice issues until both failed.

I hope the 3 year warranty will be honored. I only noticed this morning that the packaging for the 1Tb indicates 512Gb raw capacity on the specifications, so that says a lot about their quality control. I will steer well clear of this brand from now on.

Just some feedback after a year of use.

Rogueware 2.5" SATA NX100S

No issues at all after a year of use.

All in all a great SSD in my experience, if you want to breathe some new life into a laptop still using a normal spindle drive.

Rogueware 2.5" SATA NX100S on a Lenovo TinyPC , running a small Proxmox homelab. However, I just had complete failure of the proxmox host with massive data corruption throughout, `fsck` couldn't even fix it. Must be because these SSDs don't support powerloss. Not that I had a power outage, just a random crash. Recovered journal files shows no issue with the PC hardware. Don't know if it was the disk that maybe got to hot in the cabinet.

I also had a 1TB NX100S die on me, doesn't get recognised in Windows and Linux. Was about 1 year old when it died.
