Route Sentry and Billion 7300G

Hello

I need some help getting my local and international cap ADSL accounts working with routesentry. I have installed the RASPPPOE protocol. However, the "Query Available Services" doesn't work.

From what I've read, it seems like I have to change some settings on my Billion 7300G modem. Currently my encapsulation is set to PPPoE LLC, and my username and password of my one account is entered there.

I would appreciate some help on getting this set up, so that I can start using my 30 Gig local cap with route sentry.

Strang i also have the same router , yet it works fine with me.

You should be switching your router to bridge mode to use route sentry. The wording of your post makes it sounds as if you are still using the router to login into your account and trying to use route sentry at the same time.
You need to change the router to bridge mode so that route sentry can dial up your different ISP accounts from your own computer.

Bear in mind when switching to bridge i think the firewall on the router is disabled. I have a billion and tested route sentry and the above instruction is exactly what i did to get my 2 ISP accounts working.

I have this router...

You need to set your router to bridge mode.

You can find the setting in the "quick start" section on your router info page.

You need to set encapsulation to "Pure Bridged LLC". Then click on apply the router should reset itself.

You will now have to "dial-up" to the net using PPPOE dial up connections.

Thanks for the help everyone. I have managed to set my routerto bridge mode, and I can now use the Dial-up connections. However, I don't quite know where to set the router to accept multiple dial-up connections? This means that I can currently only connect one connection at a time, which is not sufficient to get Route Sentry working.

Can anyone give me specific help on how to allow multiple connections on the 7300G.

Go into the routers confic page.
Click on CONFIGURATION --> WAN --> ISP --> EDIT --> And then right at the bottom will be PPPoE RELAY, tik the box --> apply --> saveconfig

Now your router is in halfbridge mode wich means that you can have an account on the router and then create a "dialup" connection as well.

That's cool Billion Tech, I didn't know that.
However, will that screw with route sentry? I have a feeling it would since route sentry detects which local and international traffic goes down which connection. Which I'm sure would only work by dialling up both connections from your desktop.

The installation instructions for the RASPPPOE protocol will recommend that you go into the properties of your Local Area Connection that is used to connect to your router (found in Network Connections in Control Panel) You will need to switch the number of WAN connections from 1 to 2. Then you will need to restart your machine. Go into the properties of the RASPPPOE protocol it will be listed when you check your Connection properties. I think its listed as PPP something...

If you follow the installation instructions on the website that contained the RASPPOE protocol you downloaded, it should solve any problems you have. It's very helpful.
