Router not syncing but Telkom Tech's Is

I have a billion BIPAC-7402 not quite sure where to check the logs...

The Billion routers does have this tendancy on certain Dslams.

Go into your router and under your ADSL settings change the following:

Connect Mode: ADSL
Modulation: G.Dmt

And then you might want to play around with: Tx Attenuation
For Tx Attenuation you might want to go check the Whirlpool forums of Australia for guidance.

It seems the Billion Chipset does not always succesfully negotiate the correct settings with certain Telkom Dslams and with these settings you force the correct values.

If you get upgraded to 10meg though you might need to play around with the settings again since ADSL v1 can only go to 8 meg if I remember correctly.

Just wanna say thank to all for the advice...It was sorted out today

The "Advanced Tech" came to my place and after some proper inspection and a couple of calls from my landline (bastards will make me pay for that too) he spoke 2 some guy @ telkom offices, after giving them my neighbors adsl line number he said that my dsl was connected to the wrong node...whatever that means.... but he did some changes on the back end and low and behold my router sync'd up and ppp light came on.....

this was a really *** experience lots of fighting with telkom and I almost had to buy one of their routers @ R1k .... lucky i persisted.

thanx again for everybody's help guys!

Making a mental note on this one......

I wish somebody can get their hands on some advanced repair procedures document from the land of Telkom which the senior techs use and post it here...

Think it will make all of our life's a bit easier.
