My telkom router packed up. I tried installing another router but telkom wifi assistance said that I could not and that it has to be a telkom approved router. I am a pensioner I don't have a R1000 to fork out for a replacement router from telkom. What can I do?

That is an ONT and it cannot be used as Wi-Fi router.

What happened to your old router

Login to https://customerportal.telkomsa.net/portal/overview/ and get the PPPOE username and password. Then just add that to the other router.

It is a combo device, both ont and router. Does telkom not provide more than a 12 month warranty?

@hira when you say packed up, what do you mean? Is the wifi dead? Are there any lights that work?

On Vumatel you can use it but on Openserve you cannot and even if it would work ,Hira would still need to get a tech out to commission that ONT

What is wrong? What died?
Could be the Power Supply. If it is the ONT, then it is Telkom equipment and they need to service it. The new unit needs Telkom to configure. Where did you buy it? It is normally a provider customer equipment and not available for retail.
