Got an email (from RS) today stating that mines will be shipped today, and to expect a 21 day delivery period (outside Europe)!!!!!

Isn't that HOGWASH?

I seem to recall (from posts from other MYBB members) that we could track and trace our deliveries and that it took no more than a week to your door.

So I replied to the email requesting track and trace number only to get the following drivel:

As for tracking information, we are sending via DHL Post, which has no track and trace capability.

The reason for this is to prevent heavy custom duties on your package however this means a 21 day delivery time from the point of dispatch.

So on top of waiting so bloody long, I gotta wait another month if not more.
I must sure that when I ordered it indicated that it would be sent by courier to my door.

Has anyone else received via normal post or been notified of this?

Just to add on - picked up the following from the FAQ's:

How are you shipping my Raspberry Pi to me?
For all customers in the UK we are using Parcelforce, for our non-UK customers we are using the best courier service available. Goods are sent out overnight, aiming to be with you as soon as possible. Taxes & Duty will be applied where applicable, and is the responsibility of the customer at the point of delivery. Please note that these charges are not highlighted at the time of order.

How can I track shipment of my order? Where is my Pi?
A shipping notification email will be sent to you as soon as your goods have despatched. This will contain information and website links to enable you to track your delivery. It is not possible for us to offer parcel-tracking capability for Raspberry Pi orders on the main RS website at this time.

Nice of them to tell us in advance.....

I never got mine, think it was ordered in April. Eventually bought one off the forum.

I'm still waiting too. 11 weeks waiting time, then got an email 4 weeks or so ago saying up to 9 weeks delay... No updates or anything in the progress. A monthly update would be nice, just to see where I stand.

To be honest you might be better of cancelling your order and getting a refund.
You can then order from Electrocomp Express or modmypi and delivery will be a lot quicker. I got one from Electrocomp within 2 to 3 weeks.

Model B now ships with 512MB of RAM

Update: Those of you lucky enough to receive a 512MB Pi this morning can download updated firmware here. For example, download arm384_start.elf and rename it to start.elf on /boot partition. You will then have a 384M/128M memory split.

One of the most common suggestions we’ve heard since launch is that we should produce a more expensive “Model C” version of Raspberry Pi with extra RAM. This would be useful for people who want to use the Pi as a general-purpose computer, with multiple large applications running concurrently, and would enable some interesting embedded use cases (particularly using Java) which are slightly too heavyweight to fit comfortably in 256MB.

The downside of this suggestion for us is that we’re very attached to $35 as our highest price point. With this in mind, we’re pleased to announce that from today all Model B Raspberry Pis will ship with 512MB of RAM as standard. If you have an outstanding order with either distributor, you will receive the upgraded device in place of the 256MB version you ordered. Units should start arriving in customers’ hands today, and we will be making a firmware upgrade available in the next couple of days to enable access to the additional memory.

I’d like to thank our partners, RS Components and element14/Premier Farnell, and the suppliers, particularly Samsung, Sony and Broadcom, for all their help in delivering a smooth transition to the 512MB. I’m looking forward to seeing what you all get up to with your shiny new Pis.

4 months of waiting and a new, better model is available. Complete rubbish. Will email them tomorrow and find out what the hell is going on.

Anyone here received a RS PI lately? If so, when did you order? Also, did you get the new board with 512k memory? I ordered one end of August and just want to get an idea of how long the waiting period is. If I get a 512k PI, the wait would have been worth it. Also don't want to go through hassle of begging for my money back.

The day that they released the new version I mailed RS - they said from that day they will be shipping out the new version.

I also ordered around Aug - I think my order will be dispatched end Nov. They confirmed that I will def be getting the new version.

Thanks gregmcc, that is great news.

Pfffffft, I ordered on 26 June, Was notified of a delay on 29 August, then was told on 4 Oct that my order has been dispatched and will take 21 days. Well... it is the 6th of November and still nothing.

It is quicker to get an ID document from Home Affairs it seems.

Mines was shipped 15 October.
Got notification from Post Office yesterday and fetched it today.

Don't know if mines has 256 or 512 memory though. Can I tell if it has the higher by examining the board?
