RSA Realm - Local Server

Oh yea, I dl illegal stuff, even share them again on P2P networks, and lots of other illegal stuff. I however don't advertise my wares on public forums, and try and get innocent people into trouble. The fact that this forum allows these discussions to stay allive does not do well for it's reputation. But I am not the forum owner, so don't really care.
 
Guys... I think private servers are a waste of time but...

Blizzard is making tons of money - no need to rush to their defence. People are so quick to call others 'criminals', except in the cases where it's truly appropriate.

'Supporting software pirates'. Bad thing? Just leave the software pirates alone... :mad:
 
Well, fact is, playing EMU's is like buying fake raybans from a streetvendor.

Sure they may look like the real thing. And they're cheaper.

But they're still kuk.

I can't care less about others breaking the law, as long as it does not influence my life in anyway. People advertising their illegal wares here on a public forum should leave us the hell allone. Then will we not bother to flame them. How many people will start to play on illegal servers if we openly support it, how many will not even know that it is illegal?
Should we open threads with links where people can download pirated movies and stuff next?

You make a good point. On these forums advertising illegal downloads and so forth is actually not allowed and threads like that are locked and posts edited which is one of the reasons I'm so quick to swear at people advertising emu's here.

I download illegally (and proud of it), I pay for WoW not because it's the 'legal' way of doing it, but because private servers suck.

I have nothing against crime. As long as it doesn't directly effect me I'm happy :)
 
I think people should realize that there are more important things in life than to bitch and moan about an "illegal" server. So what, if ppl want to play, let them, its not a bloody train smash. At least they dont run around raping, robbing and murdering. Now thats something you can bitch and moan about. Let the ppl enjoy their game. Most of the players dont have R100 - R200 to play on an overseas server - so they were clever enough to get their own server. Let the ppl play in peace, and rather spend your time bithcing about things that does affect our lives. My 5c for the morning - now you all go have a great day!

The Original Poster of the threat however, did advertise his server!

To be equaly frank, it is the small crimes that corrupt a nation. Stamp out the small crime and the big crime will come down as well.
It have been shown in history that even tightening up on insignificant crimes like littering in streets would drop the murder and other serious crime rates.
Telling every one that it is OK to play on illegal servers if you dont have R100 per month is equaly wrong as telling someone that it is OK to take food from others if you can't afford it. (actualy it is worse, since the person without food may starve if he don't get food while the gamer can just switch to legal free to play games) .
I don't condem the people that can't afford to play games and thus end up supporting illegal servers, I do however think it is not right to sweeten up the idea of illegal servers and try and lure unsuspecting people into it.

This thread got derailed early on...

We couldnt care less if people want to play on private servers. The main issue is, practically everyone on this forum plays Official, where everything works, all the time. The reason we get defensive is because, its advertising a service (emulated wow) when we've got better already. Think werries stated eariler, 'shall we start advertising where to download pirated media?', imo its the same thing

Let the people play their 'illegal' server for Christ's sake! How can you possibly think of them as criminals? Don't you have the abillity to think for yourself? You want to know what REALLY corrupts a nation? People not thinking for themselves.

Everything that happened under appartheid was 'legal'. Everything that happened under Hitler in Nazi Germany was also 'legal'.

Shame lost the argument, have to start with personal attacks? Maybe I should try and explain in simple terms that you perhaps can comprehend?

World of Warcraft were never released as an emu server. Running such a server is exactly the same as running a pirated version of Windows on your PC. It is illegal, under international Copyright law, and South Africa is bound by that law.
So if the law don't fit in with what you believe, and you want to do whatever you want, so be it... There are special places for people like you; with your attitude I think you may discover them soon.

Have you ever driven after having 2 beers ?

Well , that is illegal to, but it happens.

It all depends if you are going to take responsibility when you get caught. Stop trying to take the high ground and be realistic. The world is not perfect. That is why you are being targeted.
