RTMC mum on plans for lower speed limits

lol, they can make driving illegal today and they wouldn't generate a single fine in the other eight provinces outside of the Western Cape. Enforcing the existing laws would be a better idea.
 
These halfwits already have all the laws they need that just need enforcing. But they have to show that they're working instead of just taking bribes and the token traffic stop on an on-ramp
 
Can have as many laws as you like, but no one to police them isn't going to do squat.
I mean I think I last saw a traffic officer at a road block in December, no active policing just sitting there, SAPS was doing the work.
 
Incompetent, lazy, lack of interest are what comes to ind when I see this sort of thing.

Police and do your work and the laws will be effective and the reasons will diminish.
 
The only reason to drop speed is to increase money making from speed cameras.

They will not solve nor affect taxis who do whatever they like. It will be the common Joe who gets trapped more for daring to overtake someone at 80kph or forgetting to check his speedometer on a downhill…

There are several more important things that need to be fixed before they even look at speeding.

1. Reckless driving i.e. they need more visible policing and they need to pull people over and fine them for reckless driving.
2. Reduce the no. of trucks on the roads.
3. Resolve the MANY issues with taxis. Impounding unroadworthy vehicles, catching drunk taxi drivers, catching unlicenced taxi drivers, fining taxis for stopping in the middle of intersections and dropping off passengers, fining taxis for driving on the wrong side of the road, fining taxis for overloading, fining taxis for driving on pavements, fining taxis for jumping red lights. This has all become normal 🤷‍♂️

Then they can look at dropping the speed limits but quite frankly it won't make much of a difference till they fix the above.

We will have to rely on Waze to ensure we can still drive like normal men and not a 90-yr-old lol.

Which reminds me, i see they often trap on a road i can see outside my Window (not giving away where i am) but its not on Waze i think people can't see it. But Waze is a bit sticky with reporting things you're not going past, it won't let me click on the map and report.

Wonder if there's a way around it? Cause its simple for me to just glance out of my window and see if they're there and mark it. Will help the poor oke in his BMW flexing the engine a bit at still perfectly safe speeds if you're not overreacting, or trying to steal money from your citizens.

2 and 3 are impossible under the regime. They've created this situation and simply don't have the power or the mental capacity to deal with it. They don't even realise they're meant to do something about it. Hundreds of fatalities in a single month barely registers when you're a sub-literate commie.
 
Some interesting comments. Last weekend I traveled from Kouga to East London (I am a Discovery Drive participant) and was again frustrated with the inconsistencies around the setting of speed limits. Old boards indicating speed limits that are not removed; new speed limits that are set because the roads have been upgraded and broadened but the boards are outdated; speed limits that are different for traffic in opposite directions; the missing speed indicating board, etc, etc.
This is prevalent all over and is a huge frustration because one never knows whether you are driving at the correct speed.
About time that the RTMC take proper care of these basic things on the roads and leave the speed limits as they are but just ensure that people drive at the correct speed.

If there's no cams or people around I just plow through them and stop to load them into the back of the van.
