I like the idea of rucking and want to try increase the load besides filling up a few water bottles. Managed to get a 15kg plate off of amazon south africa (the yes4all brand) as dumbells were too unsteady. However now that i have received it i am a bit worried about putting it in my old backpack i use as i think it will rip it. To import from america it costs a fortune from the brands like "goruck". Any one got some home grown solutions they can share?

Looking for something local like the below

Any decently-designed hiking backpack will do, and last a lifetime. I bought a Black Diamond backpack in 2006, and regularly load it with more than 30kg of shít. Still going strong. My backpacking backpack is the house brand from Due South, when they still existed, 17 years and still going strong. Typically packed with 23kg at the start of a trip (I eat a lot).

Watch out for backpacks that are accessible via a zip-off base. The zip strength limits the weight you can load in.

Also, if you want to go cheap instead of buying weights, just use rocks. You can easily find rocks that match the size and mass you want.

Me and the Mrs were tired of our usual rucking, we decided to ask another couple to join our rucking. Since then our rucking has never been better!

never thought of a group ruck, maybe we should meet for a mybroadband rucking session.
