So it comes as little surprise to learn that according to Telkom's market research, the "satisfaction rating" among its ADSL customers is 82%.

anyone here participate in any of this market research?

yeah, it is :D
Antowan are you going to post instead of me?

It comes as little suprise that 89% of statistics are made up. In Telkoms case it's close to 99.999%

market research? unlikely. Probably conducted at a Telkom sponsored event, and only targeted at Telkom senior staff...

Roffel, and only 82% of them were happy with the service... bwhahaha :D

I'de love to learn how this figure was obtained.

If asked the question if I'm statisfied with the reliability of ADSL, I have to admit I am. I am satsified that I'm getting the service I purchased as advertised.

But nobody ever asekd me the crucial questions: Do you believe you are getting value for your money from Telkom?

I guess a lot of this comes from the after repairs surveys: Is your line working again? Are you satisfied? etc.

As our receptionist reports the problems with Telkom, she is always contacted to answer the questions. As if a receptionist can represent the companies views on such matters.

We've trained her to respond that a x hours response time is unacceptable, the techies are disorganised - they had to fetch tools (number of times door had to be opened) times etc.

But I guess Telkom is pulling wool over their eyes using strange ways of generating client satisfaction data.

The scorn poured out over RPM is indicative of a general public starting to feel and understand how they are exploited by Telkom.

Might I suggest a counter-propaganda poll here. Not a facetious or leading one - just simple:

On a scale of 1 to 6, with 6 = "Completely satisfied" and 1 = "Completely unsatisfied".

So that Myadsl's "market research" can say something different.

A three point scale would be better - satisfied, "draadsitter", not satisfied.:D

but but where is it? :D

And btw, the way Teklom does satisfaction indexes is this... They go round to Papi and the board and say: "Are you satisfied?". Nice and impartial.

I suspect the 82% customer satisfaction referred to in the article, relates to one of them old Markinor surveys that Telkodemonopolies commissioned Markinor to do [emphasis on old and commissioned].

Average Markinor survey question:
Which one of the following is your FAVOURITE landline provider
1) Telkom
2) All of the above.

....

Or: On a scale of 1 (Satisfied) to 5 (Extremely Satisfied) rank how you feel about Telkom ADSL?
