I was at the game yesterday with a party of 32. Vibe was amazing and the game opened up nicely in the 2nd half.

Sadly, 4 of our party of 32 had their phones pick pocketed, me being one of them.
 
Yesterday was awesome.

Soccer fans can definitely teach us a thing or two about passion for your team and how to enjoy the day out.

As for the game itself. Great victory by the Boks. Took them 30min to get into it but after that it was havoc...

Argentina's defence was a shocker of note but the Boks played what was in front of them.

It helps when you have a number 8 who hits rucks and gets over the advantage line with ball carries.

We also had scrummies who cleared ball extremely quickly. Defence had no chance to organise efficiently.

And an attacking fullback allowed to join the line and do his own thing.

The All Blacks will of course be a completely different game. But I am positively excited.

Weird enough when you are there you hardly notice it.

Well played by the boks. I must say that Fourie playing like he did on Saturday is still easily the best SA scrumhalf.

We have a mean pack of forwards and I think the new scrum laws actually fit us like a glove.

The back line was also looking better and I love how le Roux brings a bit of spark.

Hmm, I don't think so. I think he's probably been the best scrummie in the country this year. Hougaard is off form and is injured, Piet Van Zyl is a little inconsistent. RP was bland as hell on Saturday. FDP was great, though. Those passes were fantastic. Perfect aim and went like a bullet.

I like the new laws. Makes for less collapsing and resetting of scrums. Was funny how all the scrummies were pinged for not throwing in straight. :p

Le Roux had a quiet game (by his own standards), and yet still managed to make things happen. That combination with Engelbrecht was great. Mallet always emphasises Le Roux's ability to spot space and play towards it. That showed it perfectly. Didn't look like much was on, but he made it happen.

Jano Vermaak is poison and is only looking after himself. And RP is the right choice to start the game. He is big and hard and will withstand the early barrage. Vermaak is toilet in those circumstances. And come the change, FDP was ideal. In fact he was good enough to start but I can understand the hesitancy that the coaching staff may have had.

His ball service was accurate and quick - in fact I'd say he is better now than he ever was in that department. We didn't really see the box kicking and darts of his own because by the time he came on the dynamic of the game had the back line involved.

He isn't quite Andre Joubert but could get there.

Poison? In what way? And all the players take care of themselves. Or do you mean on the field? I don't know dude, I just don't see what you're complaining about. It's like we've been watching two different players.

Yeah, he actually adjusted to the situation on the field. An annoyingly rare quality in SA players. It' quite astounding that he's still playing so well. Means he hasn't let the 'softer' Japan affect his game. I'm thinking Meyer spoke to him the moment he became coach and said he'll pick him if he keeps the quality up.

Damn, who will play no 10 for the ABs?

I hope that this weekend the Boks keep up the tempo they showed in the last 55 minutes of last Saturday's game.

Is it just me or does the bok backline actually look pretty good when the forwards are steamrolling and we have a bit of a wild card on counter attack?

Between Colin Slade and Tom Taylor. I reckon Slade will get the nod. He's played a couple of tests. Although Taylor's kick rate is 90%. :eek:

4th and 5th choice flyhalves. :(

Yeah, same here. I was glad to see de Villiers staying level-headed at the end of last week's game. It's dangerous coming off such a big win. Need to keep things tight.

Our back line is a bit more creative with the likes of Le Roux and Engelbrecht in there, I reckon. It's always been pretty good if the forwards can provide momentum and go-forward ball, but these guys really add more spark overall.

I do tend to to agree. I would just like to see more of FDP than just a the last 15min of the game though. He came on when the whole team was on fire and at that stage a guy like Vermaak could have made some excellent breaks himself. RP is not really an attacking scrumhalf or player in general and if a backline wants to start running you need a more explosive scrumhalf like Vermaak or FDP.

Yip. But as Albereth said, they would have been a little cautious since he hasn't played international rugby in a while. But hopefully he'll get more time on Saturday.
