Different schools have different rules though. Even here, we have schools where sporting codes are compulsory. People are made aware of this prior to enrolling.

And those rules should be struck down as they almost invariably mean the child cannot attend a quality school. Mandatory sport is simply bullsh*t.

Of course. Are you trying to insinuate that if a private institution insists on teaching children how to make bombs, or skin live animals, that should be tolerated purely because they are a private institution? Nonsense.

Bullying is unacceptable however you look at it and forcing a kid to do an academically unnecessary activity that they don't want to amounts to precisely that: bullying.

There are some curriculum restrictions applied by the state to ensure that schools meet the standards of the examination board sure. However making explosives without the proper permission is illegal not just for schools but for the entire country. Same goes for animal cruelty.

Swimming however does not enjoy the same status as the production of explosives and animal cruelty for obvious reasons. A school is free to enforce mandatory swimming lessons and you, as a parent, agree to that or take your child elsewhere. The institution is not required to cater to your needs. If you don't like it go to a school that will.

This is like insisting that it is your religion to only wear blue and even though the tailor you are visiting only uses red it must now cater to you and use blue for you. You cannot use your religion to dictate the behaviour of a service provider. The provider sets the conditions of that service and if you don't like it you don't have to do business with that institution.

A school has the right to reserve admission as do all private institutions. Similarly it has the right to attach terms and conditions to a service. You cannot expect a private school to change for children just as you cannot expect the tailor that only uses red to use blue simply because a potential customer demands it.

Service providers dictate the terms and conditions of their service. Not the other way around. When last did you dictate to your ISP how many kbps you will get for your R200? This is what you are advocating for schools.

Muslims are really doing themselves no favours. The tide or world opinion is shifting rapidly away from them. Europe was initially very tolerant and kind towards these immigrants and now they are trying to force those self same tolerant people into their belief system. Talk about biting the hand that feeds you. Anti immigration parties are exploding around the West. If and when a war breaks out between Islam and the west do these people not understand that they will probably be deported and at the very least be incarcerated for the duration of the war as where the Japanese Americans during WW2?

Couldn't have said it better myself. Just another problem with a lot of muslims is that they EXPECT everyone to change for them. The word "compromise" doesn't seem to be part of their vocabulary.
