I have a blackberry and need to upgrade my cell c contract. Which is a better phone to get, samsung s3mini or s4 mini? Also with internet browsing, whatsapp and facebook, about how much data would I need per month? Some s3 contracts offer more data than the s4, hence my confusion between the 2.

Which do you think is better between the s3 mini or s4 mini?

What contacts are you looking at? Telkom Mobile has the S4 mini with 5GB data. I guess about 500MB per month would be enough for most people.

Im looking to upgrade my cell c contract.
I really have no idea which is a better phone.
Had my blackberry for 3 years now so want something new .

S4 mini is a better phone but moving from a BB. the question should be "which makes more financial sense ? "
BB users are used to uncapped browsing plus data for all apps. Hence you have to take into consideration how much charges you will incur using data, and whether you have access to work or home wifi to lessen the amount of mobile data being used.

Thank you for the reply. Yes figuring out how much data I would use is first priority before I get my contract.

So give us more info then we can give you a estimate.

Do you have wifi at home/work?
Do you have work emails on your phone?
How much browsing and social media do you do during the course of the day?
Any private emails?

Just get an S3 (Not the Mini).
I use my phone extensively with lots of data involved and I buy 500mb a month (I have Wi-Fi at home, if I didn't I'd probably need a gig)

Prices for the S3 have dropped and it is still an amazing phone. Put that down as a third option.

I went from a 9720 to an S4 mini and happy with it. I estimate I will use 250Mb 3G data a month based on my usage. I have wifi at home/work and spend 2 hours a day on 3G when commuting (I read the news, twitter, facebook, etc on the bus each day).

I went for TopUp and buy data as I need it.

Ok I mostly use my phone for:
1. Internet browsing, not downloading things and not for watching you tube.
2. Chatting (thats why I prefer samsung-I can have bbm)
3. Facebook
4. Occasional emails, probably just once a day.
4. Taking photos of my kids (so camera should be good) although my current phone is 3 years old and probably all the new phones have better cameras.

Oh and did I mention I have a 15month old and have dropped my phone at least once or twice a week! Another reason I prefer the slightly smaller phones, that can easily fit into my pocket.

My budget is about R300 a month.

You will survive on 250-500mb per month in that case.

I am the type of guy that buys the cellphone cover an hour before I buy the phone and I put it on right there in the shop so dropping the phone on a daily basis has not been a problem, 11 months and no scratch even though I am as destructive as most 15 month olds. But if size is a problem for you then go for the S4 Mini, the S3 Mini is disappointing.

And btw its not only Samsung Android based handsets that has bbm.

If you want a S4 with amazing photographic abilities try out the S4 Zoom. My wife has one and despite its bulky size it is a brilliant phone with an amazing camera.

Hi. I got my phone today. Chose the s4 mini and got it for r279 per month vodacom. With 450mb data and 100 minutes.
