S5 vs iPhone 6 plus

Ok - let's call it an OS. It just seems to switch to apps rather than manage. But let's call it an OS.

What makes it better?

Back in the day of Android 2.3 when everyone brought up stability and smoothness, I understand. There were more reboots and battery pulls back then - but in recent times not really.

iOS is easier to use and I prefer the way they do some things - like deleting apps which is far more easy and intuitive. It's got fewer settings and they're easier to find and use, but that said it's not as complex as Android.

For me, personally, is the widgets and the 'smart' functions. I get an pop up on screen of my traffic flow an ETA before I leave for work. If there's an accident en route, that pops up too. The same thing happens when I'm coming home - there's nothing I need to touch or set.

If I start visiting another place more often, it picks it up and asks if I should add it to the timing. I used to get a popup on screen on Friday nights about the distance to the Keg, just because I had been there the last few Fridays ...

But there's more - I pop into Clarens and it knows where I am. Weather changes and it starts giving me sites and photo opps in the area as well. I decide to fly to Cape Town and automatically flight details are in my calender due to the ticket confirmation received. Hotel details are put in as well.

I Googled last night about a lens I wanted to buy recently and wake this morning with a popup on the latest reviews found as well as other info.

So you have rooted, then the file system restrictions shouldn't be a problem anymore, right?

O yes, thanks for bringing up the flap. Is the iPhone water and dust resistant?
The file sharing is a weakness but it's not a game changer for me.

As iphone being watertight, my iPhone 4s has been in the bath a couple of times. My wife is using it. No issues. But it's not something I would encourage.
I still prefer an iPhone over an s5. I don't like Android. Actually I don't like what Google are doing to it. And I think Samsung do an especially bad job in implementing it.
iOS has its faults. But I think it had fewer faults(the ones that matter to me) than Android.
I don't mind of other people choose an Android device. I don't understand why it stresses them out so much that I prefer an iOS device.
Btw, I have an iPhone 5s. I won't be getting an iPhone 6. I don't care about its tech specs. The 5s runs ios 8, so that's fine for me. I will upgrade later. Maybe next year :)

You know that google now does all of that right? Or are you talking about android, I'm confused :D

OK, this is now getting into your and my opinion which obviously differs.

Yes it is.

Lol flaps. I didn't even know they were using a flap in the S5 to get that IP67 rating but it makes sense. What a pain.

If possible you would likely brick the phone when the sd breaks or you remove it.
Then they should design the OS to handle it. Not having to manage storage is an important feature to an ordinary non-technical user. It's even an important feature to knowledgeable users who don't want the hassle of having to tell their phone where to install and store things. I certainly don't miss that nonsense.

I know it's Google Now -but I dunno how it works your devices ;)

Do you get auto pop ups as well?

Otherwise ignore my post ;)

I think it stresses them (me) out that someone would choose something which is obviously inferior and be happy with it. To us, it makes no sense. And sense is very important to us. We believe what we want to believe. There are a lot of android fans which are pissed off with some of the file restrictions brought in with Kitkat, because it makes no sense. This iOS thing that people seem to like, is just another thing that doesn't make sense to the very sensible people that we are.

The phone is pretty good at deciding where to put things and your average user would not know the difference.

Will you get full iOS8?
Or do you have no idea at this stage?

Yes it is.

Not a pain at all. Maybe for some, not really for me. You want to talk about the smoothness of UX but you haven't actually used an S5? Which is noticeably smoother than any other android device I've seen or had in my hands... you obviously using your G2 as reference which is a bad starting point. There is a reason that it's not being compared to the 6 anywhere.

We get notifications.
It's not a popup window, it flashes on your notification panel for a few seconds then stays there till you press it or till you clear your notifications.
Or in my case my watch vibrates and shows me a preview for 10 seconds (so weather or whatever just pops up on my watch screen).
then if I want to go into detail immediately I unlock the phone within those 10 seconds and the information opens. If I want to view it later it is in my notifications (an icon to tell me on the bar, a swipe down to preview and a press to open or clear).

Oh my bad guys - apologies ;)

Yea it's Nineteen69 now ... and Saturday was the last time :P

Yea I think iOS has it ; I'm not sure how it works though, as it seems to work best when there is a widget
