S5 vs iPhone 6 plus

Android's lack of a decent way to look up word definitions from the text selected as iOS does is a much bigger deal IMO.

O, that also changes on the Note 4 iirc.

you've moved on quite swiftly to your next point, nevermind the awesomeness that is multiwindow.

Stock Android isn't better looking than iOS. It's dull, cluttered and underdesigned. Android L should be an improvement on that though.

OK, so this image shows me your homescreen and the app drawer. A snap from your iphone, will look very similar to the app drawer. No?

I actually have the full Oxford Advanced Learners Dictionary on my phone, including pronunciation in UK and American English for each word...

Unfortunately just to get to stock Android requires a high level of customisation in this case, so it's not even in the picture. This is Android if you can't customize:

Strangely enough many people prefer that look. (Touchwizz)
I offered to change my wife's S4 mini's look and feel, but she refused. She prefers the stock look.
The thing is people differ. One guy's screen with boring icons is another's Mona Lisa master piece.

I thought I summed up my opinion on the 'multitasking' quite well. The idea that iOS is only able to manage one application at a time is misleading.

Not with that particular dictionary, but android gives you several, including translation... View attachment 151642

Not remotely even the same thing. When you select text in iOS, it gives you the normal Copy/Cut/Paste but it also has Define which will bring up the word definition as well as the ability to search the web for that word/phrase.

Very similar yes. Still screenshots of the iPhone are quite unconvincing because it's just rows of icons. The real differences in the UIs are when you're doing stuff in there - it's all about the animations, the transitions, the fluidity, the graphical flourishes. It's the same thing I keep saying. That's where Android just falls flat. Look at the work we had to do to get one really nice looking widget - the majority of widgets are flat, unresponsive things. Even with a ton of customising, you still can't get that kind of animation in Android because that's something Google needs to bake in - but as I say, I'm hopeful for L.

Ah ;)

Either way I don't see what application you would use it for other than taking extended poo breaks to watch series at work.

Ah - not applicable, Whatsapp supported. Actually whatsapp isn't supported, whatsapp supports multiwindow.

that's not the only think multitasking is for LOL

Not if you have a floating window...

But then that floating window is even smaller than the two vertical areas it gives you. Even on my desktop with it's massive screen would I want to watch a video in a post stamp.

screenshot of it? sounds interesting.

So not like this?

maybe when you are on the gautrain, or bus. just because you can't think of a use case for it, doesn't mean no one else can use it.
