If there was a volunteer program, for people feeling they should sacrifice themselves, because of overpopulation.

I'm anti-hunting. I think it's a disgusting "sport" where a living creature is killed for pleasure.

Culling is unnecessary...there isn't that many animals anywhere where culling is needed. They can be redistributed to other areas. Africa is huge.

People take up WAY more space than any animal or conservation areas.

Forget for a second the killing of Bred animals in camps.

Lets take an Impala population and let them roam free on a game farm of let's say 400ha. How long do you think that population will stay strong and have the best bulls breeding? Would it be possible to add more gene's to the population by bringing in more bulls in lets say 8 years? Do you think a foreign bull would be able to take over the herd as the Alpha Bull?

I'm amazed at how these anti-killing people think conservation is done. It's not just about keeping the populations down. There is way more to it than that. Yes, you need to keep the population under control, but you also need to know when to remove the bull and young bulls to prevent interbreeding. You need to bring in new cows and bulls to keep the genes strong. There is no way you can do all of this without killing some of the herd to make space for more new animals and keep the genes strong.

I'm all for people having their own very strong opinion and I even support them. But to say something like there is no need for it is being a bit naïve. We have border fences all over the country, farm fences, palisade fences and the likes. If we don't do the necessary to make sure the animals are kept in check and promote breeding these animals would not have been in SA no more. They would have interbred themselves to extinction. That is just a fact.

National parks and game farms are a good facsimile of the wild/nature, the reduced ranges caused by fencing mean that it will never be more than that.

Would work on the same model as on farms, the weak and old gets removed first.
