:mad:What the ... is going on?

Have we, as South Africans, grown Udders the size of airbus A380's and horns like a Blue Bulls supporter after winning the Currie cup?

It looks like the Government has developed an appetite for milk shakes in the middle of the Serengeti with only about 10 N'guni cattle to supply the milk!

Every time I open my browser there is an article of new increased tax.

wtf!

-20 - 25% increase on Luxury vehicle tax
-increase toll charges
-increase computer monitor tax
-increase petrol prices
-increase alcohol and cigarette tax (I don’t smoke but still..)
-Emissions Tax
-Broadband is too expensive
-Cell phone costs are sky high
And I can't even get Apps on the SA iStore because the government hasn’t figured out a way to tax it!

Then there is a picture of Pravin Gordhan smiling as the lower limit of taxable earnings is raised - just implying that more people will not be paying tax and that the ordinary hard working guys needs to pay more to sustain this "free third world dream with first world tax"

Raise your hand if you think this is ludicrous.

lol I know, just comparing us to the Masai with a sweet tooth for milk shakes and no real dairy cows to foot the bill

Have your read it? it is only applicable to the lower limit I mentioned, with the break being made up by the increases I mentioned

5 Million registered taxpayers vs a population of 50 Million plus all the hangers on.
Of these 5 Million registered taxpayers, about 500 000 or 10% pay 90% of the taxes received.

One can assume then that the 10% of registered taxpayers or 500 000 people pay basically for everything in this country and only represent 1 in every 100 people in this country.

That is a very low base to work from and I would be very worried if I was the Government that 1% of the population pay for just about everything. It is likely they cannot think far enough forward to determine that this ratio mathematically speaking is simply not going to work and if it were not for South Africa's uniqueness and years of hard work building our economic capacity we might all be in deep trouble as from what I read about 15 Million people rely on Social Grants and this number is increasing exponentially, but I seriously doubt the tax base is increasing at the same pace.

It is a delusion to believe you are free in this country as we are being taxed to death literally speaking as you have to work until you are dead just to survive the cost of living increases.

Individual tax contributes only a 3rd of all revenue received. And from 02/03 to 09/10 the tax base grew from 3m to just under 6m.

Whose side are you on? :P

Well then that is a good thing. The more people paying tax in theory the less load on the individual.
One reads all this stuff in the news. 5 Million taxpayers paying for 15 Million people on Social Grants.
Enough to make you sick. It is like walking around all day with 3 people following you around with cupped hands as you struggle to make your own living.

I just feared the sheep might gobble up your hyperbole for gospel. Too late!
I'm on no one's side...I think if you're going to pretend to analyse something at least do so by presenting the entire picture.

The kinds of food they generally are, and should be buying are 0 rated so no. But a lot buy beer/cigarettes etc so yes then they will pay.

Perhaps we exaggerate, but the facts speak for themselves.
How many of us can retire at age 55, 60, 65 or at some age suitable to enjoy your life before your body is too old to do so. Not many and of those people that can they are probably rich enough not to care. The man on the street is being extorted with a very high cost of living in South Africa, mostly to blame on Governments shortcomings.
Lets leave it at that...
