SA has failed its Koeberg nuclear test

Medupi and Kusile were both lump sum turn key type project if I recall correctly, the mess there seems to be a result of rife corruptions, kick backs and general work standards being poor from the sub-contractors, so while I agree that a greenfield project building off a standard design with a lump sum turn key contract should be cheaper and efficient, unless we fix those issues above, the new plant is just going to be a nuclear version of Kusile/Medupi...

Refurbishment of Koeberg is probably the way to go, but they need to get their "A" team to manage that project, it is embarrassing that the heat exchanger replacement have to be postponed on the day of execution because the storage facility wasn't built. I wonder if they consulted Framatome on the list of task and schedule and what sort of processes did they follow to tick off that check list before the shut down.

In other words, the decision not to proceed with the reactivation of unit 2 was the correct one to make. Fixing the control rod/s is critical.

It ran for 3 days before the control rod issue.
But anyway, it seems to be back:
