So clever willie You just did the same, So where is the ideas? Action plan? See! difficult hey as we cannot beat a giant like Telscum while the corrupt government is financially and politically supporting them and allowing them to defraud Joe citizen. So if you have brave ideas LAY THEM DOWN or just carry on biitching like us!

You are so focussed on complaining that you did not even notice my idea... :)

The idea is to change the forum into something constructive, something that builds and creates ideas and inovative suggestions on how we can bridge the gap. The Action plan is simple:

1. As the question: Why focus on the negative?
2. Be bold enough to state the obvious: Focussing on the negative does not change anything... But focussing on the building and changing things yourself does...
3. Get the support of those that would like to see something happen. And by this I mean those that are willing to contribute and take real action!
4. Start producing real and actionable ideas, build on these constructive ideas until they can be implemented end-to-end.

Our bitching and moaning will get us nowhere. By setting realistic goals, creating new and inovative ideas, and actionable plans will result in real change.

The question I have for you is: Do you really want to see change happen and be part of it, or would you prefer complaining...? :)

All that was done for more than a few years, meetings with Papi, Colloquiums, lawyers, name it and what have that bring us apart from making MyADSL well known and popular! Ziltch, Nada, nothing in reality but it did raise the issues. If Government was not so crooked and slack then YES we would have been there. We just cannot get through and fight democratic communism and crooked GOVT criminals in charge .

So dream on baby, dream on!

Great!! So myADSL did start of with good intentions, why not revive those good intentions and make change happen...?

I hated the feeling of being negatively influenced by the negativity on this website, but at least my eyes were opened to certain realities. Thanks to myADSL for those revelations!! I now have two options: Either I start focussing on influencing change, or just join the "Idiots" that believe change will happen if we continue to complain... :)
 
Rooi Willie, there have been interviews with Telkom, TAG raising money for full page spreads in newspapers with achieved close to ZERO tangible results, price hikes disguised as price cuts, uncapped local turning capped, Telkom dodging having reps on the forums, Telkom telling us NOT to abuse the internet (:mad:) and countless other instances of crap that just drain the energy from us to fight for a basic service like cheap high-speed internet.

I've been on this forum a lot longer than you and I'm telling you it's not worth fighting for because Telkom have government's backing and we don't. All aboard the gravy train. :rolleyes:

Rooi Willie point well made, I'm right behind you with any above board no violence constructive action plan.

I've felt that the rants are not helping; the site isn't helping because those with the responsibility to make change in the telecoms don't see--and I mean understand--or get--how the state of affairs in the telecoms aren't serving anyone--even those that think they are coining it.

With fairly priced telecoms products and service, SA could boom and create so many jobs and thus everyone would gain. All stakeholders, even shareholders--but this is not recognized yet by those responsible.

But I have no idea or plan to reach those responsible--but reach them so they see-so they get it--so they understand.

As I say be my guest see if you can make it happen beyond this thread or few posts of yours. Good to see you have vuma, maybe even using Viagra who knows but Yeah UP there where there is a few bolts rocking (hope its not to noisy up there) you will be very disappointed very much sooner than later. Words is always a big feat and action count so much more. So all our eyes are on you now, we are waiting for your effort and leadership. See if you can do better the RPM. Do you even own a web site? What is your resources apart from the mouth? Lets Rip I am willing to go, lets get started. Now whats first please enlarge in details on that action plan of yours!

NoADSLyet, please note I say; I have no idea or plan to reach those that are responsible; but that is where this should start.

So this is the direction I propose. That those responsible should be reached and shown in a way that shows them so they'll see the benefit.

Overseas observers imported by the Government we hired to do just that and when they did not like the outcome as that will influence the bottom line of the back pocket it was dumped, all of it twice! They know it, realised it and refuse Bluntly.

Well these observers are dipsh!ts because a bump in speed and a drop in price will result in a higher penetration of broadband into SA homes and MORE profit for Telskum, not less.

They couldn't have seen the benefits. If they did see the benefits--I mean get it--it's impossible to walk away from it.

They may have given lip service--but the moment someone gets it--understand it in their heart, it's impossible to walk away from anything.

There! thats just the fact they do not care about the poor or others, statistics proves it, they only care for the few on top together with their own kin and Friend's. Corrupt to the bone. Therefore we will not see any communications or broadband benefits comparable to even Kenya by 2020.
 
I have a point to make!

All of our issues in SA can be classified under one problem, GREED.

The Shareholders, the Top Management getting the bonuses.

With that amount of money being taken from the SA Public we will never see true service, the only hope is competition and the main Shareholder in Telkom the government wont allow propper competition.

The government would also like to hold on to critical assets that enables them to control as much as possible.
 
Rooi willie has a point. If you send icasa emails and complaints they don't do anything, you send Telkom emails, they just ignore/delete them. You send your local government person/s emails/letters they shred/delete/ignore them. We hold mass rallies and toy toy....now this mass action might work.
but eish to organize it....
 
Coming back to speed - found an interesting site that compares actual speed across countries: ZDNet Australia.

The average speed in SA is 706kbps - we are ranked 91st on this test. There is little science behind the result AFAIK - and probably many shortcomings - but a very good indicator on where we actually stand. Even Telkom's 10Mbps target in 2010/11 will only get us up to 12th on the list - but by then these countries would have migrated probably to about 130Mbps
