SA local elections set for November 1

DA is so far leading in uMngeni, KZN with 68% of the vote. IFP is in the lead in 8 municipalities in KZN, NFP in 2, DA also in 2. So far the ANC is getting a bit of a thrashing in KZN.

P.S It's oddly nice to see other colours on municipalities instead of the typical ANC green, lol
How did the DA preform there last time?

Not a single result out for my Muni... and it's a one horse town so not like they have a zillion votes to count

Expect a late ANC surge as the IEC "finds" some late entry boxes.

I hope a DA and FF+ coalition will take Emfuleni.

That municipality needs urgent help from the mess caused by the ANC.

Emfuleni currently:

DA 42%
ANC 28.8%
FF+ 12%

ward54 (atlantic seaboard) is going be be interesting.

battle has been raging over the homeless - we've seen one car petrol bombed, another had it's tyres slashed.
the troublemaker in chief, decided to stand as councillor for the area under FF+

Tensions rise in Sea Point as powerful men accused of promoting anti-homeless, anti-poor and sexist sentiments

Tensions are approaching boiling point in one of Cape Town’s wealthiest suburbs as a group of powerful and wealthy men are accused of promoting anti-homeless, anti-poor and sexist attitudes.

These men include billionaire businessman Rob Hersov, Paul Jacobson and lawyer Gary Trappler.
jacobson's sidekick, trappler, is standing as candidate for ward115 (moullie point / greenpoint) - also under FF+

Too early to call really. Some residents did promise to vote different but I suspect most (ANC) voters just stayed away.

Yeah way too early to call anything yet really, in the metro's the township areas will largely be the last to report and they will shift the results significantly I reckon.

You are right. It's way too early.

But one can dream.

I know it's not on the News24 map yet but Wayne Sussman seems to have been sent a result from one of the voting stations. Not good for FF+. It was fanciful anyway that many of the Jewish residents in Sea Point would vote for any other party besides the DA.

We should have a better picture of things closer to midday maybe, or around 1pm?

Oh I do it every election cycle...

In my Ward, the "middle class" voting stations report relatively quickly (for DBN that is) and are always overwhelmingly DA, and you get your hopes up... and then towards the end of the counting the township areas report in and just shatter your dreams :(
