SA may get a new LTE operator

Things that start with "multi-" don't inspire much confidence...

So this is what TheRoDent has been testing... Just making a connection Neology/Multisource/iBurst

Are they setting up their own high sites or they going to hog the spectrum for years until they get bought out?

Not sure how I feel about this. will see what happens if they can make a dent.

At least, with a pure LTE network, they won't have a bunch of legacy stuff to get rid of in future, or keep alive because 5 people in Springbok is still using it. It should also make it easier to go to "5G" when it becomes more standardized. I would imagine that Wifi offloading should also not be a problem, as the core network is already IP.

It's about time to get rid of that dinosaur and use it for something worthwhile. Will take some time though before they can roll out to most people.

Hellish expensive to roll out a new network with decent coverage.

Price starts at Billions for a small network.

Thanks for the link. It is clear that there will be no national coverage in near future (or ever).
What of a waste of bandwith! They are still planning to play fools with ICASA.
How so?

Very simple. They will rollout TLE service in few large cities and use this bandwith elsewere for business-to-business dedicated links. Small investment, larger income. They did it already, so I am not surprised.
