Tbh I think she has always been that way, but unlike our amazeballs deputy president, she knows how to do a real job even if she doesn't agree with some of the stuff she has to do.

Godongwana also insisted that markets wouldn’t lose confidence in a government that didn’t feature the DA, saying that its “credibility” rested with the ANC.

I loved Madonsela as our Public Protector, but after her term she grew into a more progressive lady of justice. She is the Law Faculty Trust Chair in Social Justice at a premier university. A university that is based in the so-called centre of Afrikanerdom. An ideal place for her to advance progressive change. A lot of this ideology is born from progressive institutions in the USA, UK and Europe. The UN itself is a self-proclaimed liberal (and realist) union. The world, for reasons, have a paperweight of sorts that is liberal-institutionalism. Mandonsela's daughter is just a product thereof. Whether she is right or wrong is just a matter of perspective.

Just speaking of the West itself, it has found counterweights, that are think tanks, opinion polls, etc. Then you have entrenchments like media, social media, thought leaders, etc. All of whom who want to change the strain of the grassroots, all are incentivised for influencing in one way or the other. The most basic form of gauging is the good old political spectrum.

The world is in a bit of a rough spot at the moment, and there is a whole lot of force projection for adjusting or adhering to the course.

If we are examining this from the viewpoint of realism. You would need to examine whether South Africa is an economy trapped in colonial architecture and consequent structures. This, by the left wing, is labelled imperialism, but isn't the redress in itself imperialist? What tickles my funny bone is the richness of the socialists, as they themselves are enterprising capitalists. Transferring of power, wealth, property, etc.

The world needs better balance, and so does South Africa. Unfortunately, the powers that be in South Africa do not want to surrender any of it. If I examine this from Mandonsela's viewpoint, she would not wish to undo progress, some of which she advanced. Progress itself is debatable, as post-Apartheid restitution has gone awry, or perhaps that was the intention. Who knows.

I am just in the mind that minorities are being alienated. This is all I have to say.

Ministries are an easy sell for the ANC. It's the official equivalent of a brown envelope. If it was about more ministries then I'm sure they could have haggled a few.

It spun out of control when they wanted more say in domestic and foreign policy. That's where the ANC draws the line. It threatens the ideology which the party depends on for support, and risks exposing not just internal corruption but also what exactly they're getting from their foreign friends...

I think her competence in the Public Protector position came from her departmental staff, because it sure as hell didn't originate from that vacuum inside her head.

Exactly. This is how the ANC has always built coalitions, through patronage networks. It's how their party is structured. This makes it incredibly easy for them to capture parties with less than 10 seats.
