SA Politics Thread Part 10 : The GNU Has Crashed

The minority living in SA today didn't benefit from apartheid, the few that did either left for better living conditions somewhere else or are retired or very close to retirement age now. So this BEE is BS even when it was implemented I don't think it was intended to last forever.
This is grossly incorrect.

The man who was just in the USA this past week with president Ramaphosa is one of the minortites who benefited from apartheid and still lives in SA like plenty of others like him, well his forefathers, not him per se.

It of course can't last forever, but for as long as the inequality is still prevalent, it should remain in place.

I have no reason to believe that the ANC of Ramaphosa is anti transformation, you seem to believe that it is and Mashatile and the likes of MK and EFF are the one who will rescue us.

Are they going to drive it into other sectors? That's the point I am trying to make, there are other sectors do not have that clause and transformation is still happening, unless you believe transformation is strictly about 30% black ownership, I don't believe so.

Is it about Elon? no, it's about the USA and the strained relations with SA, if Starlink operating here helps to smooth those relations why not?

Forget about the MK and EFF, they are the type of parties who will moan and push their useless ideology, and then moan even more about unemployment as if they don't understand where the unemployment comes from, the worst thing Cyril and government can do right now is to waste his time with the two, they don't have any solutions.
I do believe the ANC of Ramaphosa is anti transformation. I do not however think those you mentioned will push for transformation, actual transformation. They too are in it for themselves as Zuma was in power for 9 years and didn't do much in terms of the transformation he speaks of now.

I don't believe transformation is about the 30%, but it is a factor in the transformation agenda.

Strained relations? Who's fault is that? And why are they so adamant Starlink operates in SA? it's not the only nation that said no to Elon. If the relations are to be smooth, they must be so via the USA respecting South Africa and it's decisions, not by them forcing SA to amend it's laws to suit them, it's not a good nor healthy partnership if it operates with ultimatums.

If Cyril isn't smart about this nor these things, it could be the end of him. Mashatile will give a statement against the decision to send out the gazette, just watch the space. Everything Cyril does or approves, Mashatile is against and will use it to campaign for 2027.

You think keeping BEE is assisting with the high unemployment rate?
People aren't investing not because of BEE, but because of corruption and uncertainty.

The rich would like to see transformation in South Africa as Rupert hinted by not riding the false white genocide train while in the white house with the whole world watching.

That is why it's called an investment,, at the right time it will yield results.

I even foresee in the not so distant future some of those moaning companies outsourcing the manufacturing to the Chinese.
Yeah you tell em champ! Same as the R6Billion investment that the PIC made in Sekunjalo for Iqqiballie Surve. Might be worth 14c now, but they don't understand that the ANC is playing 4D-Long-Game chess here.

One day, that brib.... uhhh, I mean "investment", is going to pay off big-time!

Perhaps you haven't noticed but the Chinese are taking over the automotive industry, they would not come and invest all that money in the plant for fun. Not only will they produce other Chinese cars but they might even end up producing vehicles for other non Chinese companies the same way they are producing stuff for everyone.

Not sure if you see the irony, in quoting IOL there......

Can it be Tuesday 9:00 a.m already. I cannot wait for that meeting.

Me personally? A nice 3 bedroom house and a modest car.

The poor via the government giving it to them after collecting it via tax? A lot they don't have, a lot.
Oh, you think each person is going to get R1.8 million? I thought you meant R1.8 million for the fiscus.

How much do you think the fiscus will get?

I think the original statement about Dwaalboom cement works was that it didn't EMPLOY any South Africans not investment. Champy went off at a tangent, pretty much as usual. How many SA citizens does BAIC employ?

He obv has never done the math for every citizen to have 1.8 million
Product of 30% education

Noise by 2%er parties is just that , noise....

While we were on the topic of Tshwane, which @TheChamp pursues with a vigour not reserved for other municipalities, we should highlight some prominent failiures of ANC-run (mostly since 1994) municipalities.

On Monday night this week, Astral’s CEO Gary Arnold said on The Money Show that the fact that the Lekwa Municipality around Standerton could not provide enough water and electricity for their big plant there was costing them R10-million a month.

It’s been so bad for so long that this is now an embedded cost; Astral budgets for it every year.

Earlier today the CEO of the Minerals Council, Mzila Mthenjane, said that: “In remote and rural areas where the bulk of mining happens, the dysfunctionality of municipalities makes daily operation difficult and unattractive for investments for any companies considering setting up businesses.”

Basically all rural municipalities have huge ANC majorities...

It’s all about politics. And so often, the politics of the ANC.

It’s usually (but not always) in the councils where they provide the mayor, or are the biggest party, where this happens.

Ditsobotla Municipality is the best example. For a very long time it was known as the town “with two mayors”. This was not a fight between parties, it was a fight between two factions of the same party. Both of these “mayors” came from the ANC.
