I wonder who Sherman thinks loves the country (outside of SA, Iran, Russia etc?).
India
Germany
The United Kingdom
Saudi Arabia
Turkey
Malaysia
Maldives
Bolivia
Namibia

The list goes on and on...

South Africa is loved. Love how some claim to be patriotic "South Africans" while bashing the country and then leaving with their 48 family members. 🤣

Who's wealthy? Really?

We start with a easy 10%.

White people who are wealthy due to apartheid and black people who are wealthy due to corruption these past 30 years are the wealthy that will be targeted. 🙂
What is wealthy? 1 million USD income annually?

It's truly a desperate stretch to say the amendments are the same as scrapping BEE or the transformation agenda.

The clause did not exist until it was introduced in 2016, does it mean there wasn't any BEE or transformation all along? And the clause doesn't apply to other sectors of the industry, does that mean there is no transformation happening in those sectors?

The EFF and MK are just useless with their attitude of being slaves to ideology.
So you believe this will be it and they won't try to drive it in other sectors while slowly amending the regulations to totally do away with BEE and other transformation legislation?

This is really really not about Starlink or Elon...

Problem is it's not just about Elon but the precedent being set here.

Are you fine with your organization setting the foundations that will ultimately stop the transformation agenda? It will cost the ANC next year and in 2029.

I forsee the ANC getting +-20% in 2029 should they abandon the transformation agenda via scrapping BEE, AA and other laws aimed at reducing the inequality along racial lines stemming from apartheid in South Africa.

Depends how they want to play the game. Drop BEE get many investors economy grows jobs increase. They can say they saved the country create jobs and the economy is now stable because of them.

What they are doing now is not working for them either way. They will still lose votes next election unless they try and "change" themselves? Why not do something bold like try and do the right thing for a change.

That's R18 bars a year, so yeah, way way above the threshold.

And we don't focus on income alone, assets and how they were obtained is also crucial.

You think scrapping BEE is the silver bullet to saving South Africa? 🤔

The conversation about BEE is a tricky one. The minority is still wealthy stemming from apartheid while the majority is still poor stemming from apartheid and poor ANC governance. Scrap BEE, wealthy whites are happy, the poor majority feels abandoned by the politicians - don't scrap it, the minority is not happy and the majority still has hope and votes ANC even while they are corrupt and don't use the BEE legislation to uplift the poor.

And how much do they invest in SA ? Compared to USA...

So put some numbers down, how much income and what volume of assets matters, also is there a time frame around the asset acquisition etc?

The minority living in SA today didn't benefit from apartheid, the few that did either left for better living conditions somewhere else or are retired or very close to retirement age now. So this BEE is BS even when it was implemented I don't think it was intended to last forever.

I have no reason to believe that the ANC of Ramaphosa is anti transformation, you seem to believe that it is and Mashatile and the likes of MK and EFF are the one who will rescue us.

Are they going to drive it into other sectors? That's the point I am trying to make, there are other sectors do not have that clause and transformation is still happening, unless you believe transformation is strictly about 30% black ownership, I don't believe so.

The auto industry in 2019 signed up for a similar workaround that involved the largest car manufacturers — including BMW AG, Ford Motor Co. and Toyota Motor Corp. — setting up a fund that would bring disenfranchised groups into the sector.

Is it about Elon? no, it's about the USA and the strained relations with SA, if Starlink operating here helps to smooth those relations why not?

Forget about the MK and EFF, they are the type of parties who will moan and push their useless ideology, and then moan even more about unemployment as if they don't understand where the unemployment comes from, the worst thing Cyril and government can do right now is to waste his time with the two, they don't have any solutions.

You think keeping BEE is assisting with the high unemployment rate?
