SA Politics Thread Part 11: The GNU Normal

A lot of headwinds for the ANC these days. Will there come a time when the ANC is irrelevant (minimal support) and if so, when?
I think they will always have high base level of support, especially in rural areas. What is concerning for the ANC is long-term trends are not in their favour, with rural areas becoming depopulated while urban areas increase in population which is strongly correlated with lower levels of ANC support. In urban areas for example, you don't have a tribal chief telling you for whom to vote.

The ANC only act in ANC interest before the country's. Dealing with Trump is probably hard. He's hostile and has decided a narrative regardless of the reality. But the ANC should still have grovelled for the good of the country. Europe have done it as have many others. Only China, Canada and Mexico are standing up to him. China have the muscle to do so.

Nooit!

Also grovel is a novel way of saying Ursula bent and spread like the two bit hooker that she is

The ANC would probably be in a nasty predicament if they get sanctioned by the hostile Trump administration.

It was coincidentally under the Biden administration that a bipartisan bill was drafted which put South Africa square in the bulls eye.

Even China refuses to do a deal with the ANC. All those ministers who traveled there last week came back empty handed.

At some point the ANC and all those ANC apologists are going to have to ask themselves a very tough question:

Doesn't matter. The hostile government is the Trump government. His various lickspittles echo his various reality defying pronouncements.

A person who is blackmailing you for whatever reason is never going to stop the extortion if you give them what they ask for, after that they are going to demand more and more and more.

That is the relationship currently between SA and Trump, maybe it's easy for the likes of Europe and others to give him what he wants, not so much for us, we are never going to fight and die for an ideal, then we just bend over for Trump and reverse all that.

When he is ready to negotiate, we will negotiate but there are some things that are non negotiable and he will just have to accept that, and as for South Africans who think it's not a big deal, fine, vote for your own party that will bend over for him on everything, it's a free country.

Trump suspended tariffs for 90 days. He said let's make a deal. The ANC snubbed their noses at him.

I don't know about you R13 but it sounds like the ANC cadres have an awful lot of money, and you do not. The tariffs will hurt you, not them. Stop carrying water for these people who couldn't care less if you starve to death under a tree.

As fat rich Gwede Mantashe put it responding to questions from poor people: "I am also hungry."

Trade with our freedom and sovereignty? That is the deal he wants and that is a deal he is not going to get.

But go ahead and vote for the DA, win elections and give him what he wants.

You keep making these assumptions about. Can you explain why you persist?

You are not free. The ANC has made you a slave. Everything you do, every cent you make, the sum of your waking ours and the rewards of your labor, goes straight into their pockets.

You've been lied to R13. I'm sorry but we all have. We've been taking for a ride by small cabal of enriched elites who get richer by the minute while everyone else gets poorer.

His face when he realises SA is one of the few places that stood up to him

Yeah, no one has time for your philosophical arguments.

Oh you don't have to listen to me. I'm just a tax paying citizen of South Africa. You and the ANC live off of me. You don't value what I say. You just want my money.

That's because in your mind I am a slave, a dog. A work mule that must be muzzled and beaten. I must just shut up and pay.

It is amazing to see people simp for white Zuma. As long as anyone destroys SA for their "genocide" claim, that is perfectly A-OK, I suppose.

What we are also not seeing is the same people who are now free from a Chief voting for the DA. So the people don't vote for the DA where they are under a Chief, they also don't vote for the DA where there is no Chief.

Support lost to the EFF, MK is recoverable, even now when they are still with the MK, EFF and other splinters, the DA is benefiting nothing from that and we are happy with that.

Although I don't have data, I suspect in black urban wards, DA obtains a higher vote share than in rural black wards. I think in CT, the DA was reporting good numbers in places like Khayelitsha.

That's what the DA claimed in their pre election polls, they claimed they are now the biggest party in urban areas, but the election results proves otherwise.

After the 2024 election, the ANC is still the biggest party in:

JHB, Tshwane, Ekurhuleni, Mangaung, NMB, Buffalo City.

That's 6 out of 8 metros. Besides that they are also the biggest party in other big urban municipalities who are not metros in most provinces.

So I am very keen on seeing that data any time you get a chance.
