The bit of good news regarding service delivery aside, I wonder what the hell the municipalities are doing about the massive land invasion on Waterkloof Airforce Base owned land, literally right across from where the ASA 'good news story' is being touted. The amount of illegal squatters living on the piece of land between the R21, Solomon Mahlangu Road and Van Ryneveld Road is absolutely staggering! This will shortly be a full scale squatter camp...

Technically the municipality shouldn't be doing anything about it, the SANDF should be if its Airforce Base land.

Yeah, Tony's criminal record was very career limiting, I guess he was waiting for a regime change and got tired.

But funny thing is that the Nkandla Thief doesn't seem to care much about him, even during his tenure he never attempted to plug him in somewhere.

Bread and circuses - we have raised this issue with the municipality multiple times and, whilst complicated from a bureaucratic perspective, the municipality has to get involved to ensure that all the relevant branches come together to remove the illegal squatters.

This is what happens when you are lax on property rights, these NGOs that defend the squatters also need to be kicked to the curb.

This is more just an opinion, and it doesn't really track with the legal reality unfortunately...

The municipality should have no say or need to get involved in this. This would be SANDF land, they should be removing the squatters and getting SAPS involved to charge with land invasion (or whatever else) and be done with it.

Reality is considerably more messy thanks to the way laws were written and then interpreted unfortunately.

How can a liar like you be going around calling other people liars. We are all waiting to hear about the justification for the illegal "wardens" Panyaza deployed in Gauteng that you were celebrating? Please refrain from posting other nonsense before taking us into your confidence about this scandal.

Whilst I agree from a legal standpoint, the only success we have had regarding communication with AFB Waterkloof in this case is via our CPF liaising directly with our ward-councilor. Unfortunately, the Waterkloof management repeatedly state that they "are aware" of the issues and will "follow due process". Problem is, that due process means f-all for the last 3-years and the problem is now becoming exponentially bigger.

Yes, the municipality should technically not get involved but the spillover effects from a dumping, littering and security perspective is becoming a big problem for the residents in the surrounding area.
