How does one celebrate "successful launch" of a product months before the entry/exit points of said product are complete (AFAIK both Ghandi Square and Sandton stations will only be ready for use early 2026).
I guess when said product is years behind schedule and billions over budget with other infrastructure falling apart at the seams, then anything is a win.

While everyone is affected by crime, the brutality and torture seems to be a bit lopsided in that regard. Sure people get murdered, but having their spouses raped in front of them, or their kids put in boiling bathwater, and brutality on an entirely different level. Don't you think that it seems to happen disproportionately to farmers?

As for your docket comment, watch this, if you can stomach any sympathy for a white farm attack victim, and take special notice of what happened after all of the deaths.

 
I attended a DA-run webinar a few days ago on their LGE electoral strategy.

Must say, I came away very impressed with the new strategy that they are employing for the 2026 elections, which they have piloted in some of the recent by-elections. They are clearly leagues ahead of any SA political party in terms of their sophisticated electoral target voter strategy, and it's largely due to historic loyalty + tribalism + intimidation that the DA doesn't do better.


In the past, DA has had "pledges" for people to vote for them, and they were expecting saying 3000+ votes but only received 300 actual votes, hence their decision to alter their strategy.

It's really not. Regular people get ironed and boiling water poured over them as well. I remember a few such reports in the westville area. Its a south africa problem not a certain race targeting.

To be honest, if you are not number 1 it simply means you are not good enough, you can have all the reasons in the world why you are not number 1, but it all comes back to the initial conclusion, you are just not good enough.

It really is. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, i'm saying it is disproportionately happening to farmers.

I just googled "boiling water poured over victim in the westville area"

Guess what comes up? Go and do it yourself in fact, and tell me how many of the first page hits has the word farmer in it. Post your findings back.

Lol. Not really. Lots of factors play a role in one's voting decision and for you to ignore history and documented cases of intimidation of DA activists in townships then there's really no point in further discussion. If the elections were held in a fairer environment, the DA would win every election.

Oh yes, forgot to mention another thing: DA would get pledges from people to vote for them, but then afterwards said they were told by these voters that "the head of the household" (almost always a male) forced them to vote for the ANC. That's not really true democracy, is it?
 
Reading an article about rare earth metals which is a geopolitical background between the USA and China and thought this graph was fascinating - SA is spending the third highest amount on rare exploration in the world? Didn't know we had many rare earth metals:

I have heard a lot people here proudly stating that they and their family would never vote for a certain party or they will all vote for a certain party, it's pretty much like sports, people influence each other, that's why households end up supporting one team or one political party.

Coming back to the DA pledges and people coming back to tell them they were forced by a head of the household, it's just an excuse really, if someone wants to vote for you, nothing is stopping them, I get the feeling it's like that MyBb thing of people's maids and gardeners assuring them they won't vote for the ANC, people like to keep peace and would say or promise things just to avoid confrontation.

If elections were held in a fairer environment the DA would win? Again just because you lose it doesn't imply the environment is unfair, it just implies you are not good enough.

I think rare earth's are often found in and around certain types of gold deposits.

It's exploration, we don't know what we have until we find it. They're spending money on looking for it, probably based on the assumption of us being rich in other mineral deposits...

And this is the problem, idiots treat it like a sport. As long as my team wins, all is good.

I don't mind a household voting along certain lines, but it should be based on policy and rationality. The members of the household should be debating policy and decisions, and arriving at a compromise. But this requires actually spending time with each other and learning about stuff, in SA we don't have time for this...

Yeah, as silly as it sounds it is exactly what happens, and such debates would never be won or lost on facts and superior logic or reasoning, they are usually won or lost through emotional blackmail.

Let me put a question to you: do you think the ANC has to put in the same amount of effort to get the same number of votes as the DA does? What I mean is to get 1 million votes, does the ANC have to campaign as much as the DA?

Also my reference to head of the household example is that the DA's strategy is to try and brings facts to the table but people's decisions aren't always based on that.. there's a lot of other stuff going on. No matter how hard the DA campaigns, if certain people are dictated by others closer to them (i.e. head of a household) on how to vote, then the DA cannot do anything about that. Agreed?

No, the ANC has, again using sport terms, what is called home-ground advantage over the DA, the same way the DA has the homeground advantage over the smaller parties, but that doesn't imply the environment is unfair, because that home-ground advantage was earned, fair and squarely by the parties putting themselves in the favorable positions.
