SA Politics Thread Part 12

Economically, the Western Cape has been the best-performing province in South Africa over the past decade, recording an average annual GDP growth rate of 0.87%.

This is according to the SA GDP per province data for 2024, released by Statistics SA (Stats SA) on Thursday, 18 September.

So basically all the ANC strongholds are dragging the country down, who would ever have guessed that.

Though I am surprised that the Free State is bottom of the list, I would have pegged that as being the Eastern Cape given who wonderfully the ANC are running that province.

Also @TheChamp's face who has confidently predicted so far out from the municipal elections that the DA's only coalition partners in JHB are the FF and ACDP.
There is a good reason why the DA cannot form a coalition now in any of the metros, no one likes them, with Zille in the mix things are just going to get worse.

If ANC/Cyril calls out his bluff, he will look quite silly. That is problem with such "Ultimatums". DA gave many such ultimatums, too.

Thing is Gayton might be "proud" enough to follow through on his ultimatum.

Would possibly be a good thing for the Sports Arts and Culture department though cos he's doing his damndest to wreck it.

You are forgetting that Gogo organised the first coalition in any major municipality back in 2006 consisting of 7 parties I think. Unlike in JHB, however, it wasn't dysfunctional.

Still with the projecting so early in the day.

But DA will never work with racists. Never ever. Just like they would never work with corrupt parties. It is about principle.
I am sure the DA will have very strict conditions, I doubt ASA will make the cut, but for ASA to say this will make the ANC question their loyalty.

I have no idea what the hullabaloo is all about, Kenny has been cleared and should be reinstated if the PA puts him forward, unless the JHB mayor say there is something else, and I have never heard him say anything about this.
