The DA have little hope in eThekwini - they finished a clear 2nd in both the municipal (2021) and provincial (2024) elections, but they are stuck between the 25-30% mark. I guess the ANC could be a junior coalition partner to the DA - the ANC will surely be smaller than the DA in eThekwini with MK coming 1st.

A liberation movement has yet to function well as a democratic run government, those are the stats throughout history.

Get people like Zonda, Moeletsi Mbeki and people like them in power and they will take the reigns and run.

But it seems only a very few select struggle pals are allowed in any important positions of power in the ANC and so it continues to fail and fail. Add to that that the ANC people in local government learn from their leaders and so corruption and incompetence is rife (and not punished) and it is not any surprise that SA is in the state it is in.

Zille coming all the way from Cape Town to be the Mayor of Jozi and a DA supporter telling us black people cannot govern, gels nicely, doesn't it?

The ANC has been doing this for decades - I doubt any political party in South Africa has any real clean sources...that being said, back to the ANC - read this book about the ANC + Chancellor House + CAR Diamonds etc etc

Zille get's tough jobs done.

And Joburg is quite a bit more than a tough job to fix.

The right person for the right job. Race doesn't matter when things are this urgent.

The DA spends 75% of it's Cape Town budget on the poorer areas of Cape Town, so don't tell me that the DA doesn't care about black and coloured areas - they spend 75% of their budget in those areas. Stop believing the ANC lies.

@Inertia is simply giving us an honest glimpse of what many DA supporters think about black people but are too afraid to say out loud.

Good for you, but @Inertia is not the only one who thinks like that, they are legion within the DA, they are the ones who dictates the direction of the party, that's why the DA is going nowhere slowly, no self respecting black person would ever want to associate with the DA.

Lots of black people do vote for the DA, so you are dead wrong on that.

I posted an opinion piece by a respected black intellectual who whines and moans that there are no experienced black people to fix the problems SA faces - which were introduced by black people.

He then offers no solutions other than exasperation that white people are coming to the rescue, of which he feels understandable shame and embarrassment. Unfortunately that goes off the deep end when he rejects this because one of them (out of many others) is white and old. And that’s his only criticism. Literally an opinion piece with no opinion other than self-loathing and self-pity.

This is how the head of Rise Mzansi, a black political party with almost no support thinks. Who said anything about the DA?
