A bit off the current topic, do apologise, and if a better place to discuss these tarriffs let a bloke know, thanks.

Anyway, got a question, these US tarriffs. In what ways would they impact the costs of local construction projects if anybody in the know, some things in private life have made me rather curious on this aspect of it all.

The US tariffs will have no direct impact on the cost of local construction projects.

I also doubt we import any products for construction from the US itself, so would even doubt that SA tariffs on US products would have much of an impact.

Helen Zille made this deal possible, indirectly.
With the surging candidacy of DA Johannesburg mayoral candidate Helen Zille, the ANC cannot afford turbulence in the city where it leads a government of local unity with the PA and EFF, along with smaller political parties.

I was looking into the construction game myself a while back

Im not sure about the tarrif's but the general climate an inefficiencies in municipalities put me off
They have gotten way worse recently

I worked out I would have property standing idle for 5+ years now trying to get everything in place before I started actual building
Before it was probably 2 years

Kind of put me off it

Absolutely.. I investigated property a few years back and even then the climate was not conducive to it in my opinion.

Busy reading the recently released book on Malema, and it's clear the EFF really want the transport, infrastructure and human settlement MMC positions as those are where the largest tenders are located at a local government level. They can't be happy now as they are losing the position they thought they had acquired.

This was my go to assumption, but I've now had a few dealing in life now that have come with delays, raised costs needing time for additional financing etc due to tarrifs, both in personal experience as well as work, work specifically having a project in on Cape coast highlighted.

Just has me baffled/confused as to why/how when the US tarrifs are imports into US.

So shipping is also somewhat broken globally atm which doesn't help matters.

But you'll also get guys taking the piss a bit to generate some additional profit and claim its "tariffs" or something unrelated.

If you have any inputs/dealings with the US , then you can expect increases
The cost for US companies doing business would have increased due to tarrif
So if you are using their services then they would be passing costs onto you
