SA Politics Thread Part 12

Not sure, but it was probably in double digits in 2025. Some person did a review at the tail end of last year but can't remember the account.
You are either very mistaken or blatantly telling a little white lie though, the only by election I recall them winning a ward off another party is the Mpumalanga one where they won an ANC ward, the double digits you speak of has never happened.

The PA has been trashing them ever since in the Western Cape and the ANC has been giving them a hiding in Northern Cape.

Of the top of your head since you follow by elections so much, besides the one I mentioned which other wards did they win and from who?

If only politics was as easy as buying out your competitors. If you can’t grow organically, you’re not attracting voters and will die eventually
That's true, there is no reason why a party can't do both, grow and acquire other parties, ActionSA has been doing just that, growing in by elections, winning wards while adding councillors by merging with other parties, looks like a winning formula to me.

Actually the one feature of ASA post 2024 is their complete avoidance of almost all by-elections. Remind me, when did they last compete in a Tshwane by-election?

Wrong, they abstain from by-elections. Instead they are trying to buy-elections
