Around 4400 odd councillors. That gives them around 3.37%. Kingmaker in more than a few municipalities. And perhaps a good few metros. Not exactly a bad position for them

I would have understood if he talked about the ratio of the councillors they have to wards, I totally don't get the voting district thing.

The inquiry into suspended South Gauteng Director of Public Prosecutions advocate Andrew Chauke’s fitness to hold office has entered uncharted legal territory following retired NPA boss Shamila Batohi’s continued refusal to return to the witness stand.

Proceedings resumed in Pretoria on Monday under the shadow of a standoff that began on 15 December, when the former National Director of Public Prosecutions (NDPP) Batohi abruptly walked out of the inquiry after nearly three days of cross-examination by Chauke’s legal team.

Batohi, who initiated the inquiry and remains under oath, halted her testimony mid-proceedings, telling the panel chaired by retired Constitutional Court Justice Bess Nkabinde that she could not continue without independent legal representation.

At the time, Batohi said: “I am not refusing to testify. I am saying I cannot continue in the absence of legal counsel. I am being subjected to treatment that is degrading and unfair.”

Yeah not sure either. There are multiple voting districts per ward...usually about 4-5 although I've seen go up to 10.
