People are unnecessarily triggered today and falling for sensationalist news headlines, the General is talking about the establishment of the unit at the time.

There is a big difference between traffic officers and police . They are not the same and each have their own mandates.
Traffic officers are not mandated for police activities
That special unit of wardens was not created for traffic duties

The provision for traffic police applies to municipalities, not provincial like Andrek's electioneering failure...

I just learnt Breytenbach was also supposed to be part of this committee, looks like she knew in advance that trouble was coming her way and stayed away.
