SA Post Office Strike

Since when? Always gives me an out of bounds error.

Also your link is to a directory listing. :p

I get an input box wherein I can put in the US, JPN, TW, RU etc tracking number, and if scanned in, in SA, it will appear.

The SAPO site is often broken and gives weird errors. But when it works, foreign tracking numbers work, but they only work once the item has been scanned in at JIMC "incomming international" (sic) :)

Does it work with USPS? I've often used these on the site even after collecting them and it still doesn't work. The latest weird error is the array index out of bounds but usually it tells me the item can't be found.

Yes. Note that not all USPS numbers are scanned in. First Class Mail Int'l numbers are not scanned in, those numbers on the green CN22 customs form. Only Priority and Express mail no's are processed by SAPO.

Received Parcel from Cape(Hub) to Welkom(Hub) to my small little town in 5 days.
As long as the parcel doesn't go through Johannesburg everything seems to be fine.

Got meh expedited package. So it is around 2 weeks once first scanned in JIMC to get out for high priority mail.

EMS or just Priority? Did the foreign tracking number start with EE or EI or EC? (or rather E)?

No, only local numbers work on SAPO's track & trace. You have to call to get a local tracking number.

Definitely not true: (I listed who I used but blanked out the tracking numbers and times for some anonymity)

My real concerns is that it has been "In transit" for a long time. Wondering if they are stealing these or just pretty much just taking their time moving them from A -> B

Let my experience above be a warning to anyone considering using post :(

I ordered these and thought that given the strike being over it would be ok. Totally wrong on that one. Best avoid them for now.

That is SAPOs way of saying they haven't scanned it yet. Array bounds checking is for noobs :p

Just keep trying :)

I am yet to receive my package ordered (shipped) from Canada on the 17th November 2014.......

I have a birthday card from May 2014 that has not come yet... I'd write it off.

Ok so EMS packages seem to be processed in the standard time and delivered without issue. USPS worldwide parcels which usually take 3 weeks have been sitting at JIMC with status 'In Transit' for weeks now. Parcel was sent the beginning of December.

This is so frustrating. Obviously no response from JIMC email contact or no answer at their call center. So pretty much on par with zero efficiency and non existent service levels as any other government department.

I've learned my lesson. EMS, or private courier. Rather pay more and actually receive the parcel.

It's been a while since I've ordered from amazon, and was pleasantly surprised to have my package delivered by Aramex, and a week before the expected date.

Amazon is really very good with their postage.
My wife ordered 4 separate packages on the 19th of December and 2 of them arrived on the 23rd and the rest of the 27th.
That's pretty f-ing good considering I order a package from the US on the 14th and it isn't even in the country.
But that's thanks to USPS & SAPO.
