SA Post Office Strike

Do you know anything about the clothing industry?

The Far East makes clothing cheaper than anyone else and the only way to compete is with subsidies, which is neither competitive nor sustainable. A far better use of that money would be to retrain former textile workers into knowledge workers, which is where the world economy is moving to. But that would require vision and initiative from the ANC, and their only aspirations in that regard are how far into the ground they can run this country before even their most dedicated voter is sick of them.

They not just making their clothes at slave labour prices, but they did other things like dumping their products too. The government is partially to blame for just opening up our trade but have tried to fix it, losing too many jobs are bad for business ;). We derailing this thread though, so PM if you want to chat more.

Is outgoing international parcels any faster than incoming? I need to send a large parcel to the UK for less than R1k (contents is just under R1k). What is the best way to do this at the moment?

Got two items, one was ordered Jul 21, 2015 and the other Aug 31, 2015. Still waiting for two others that was in between those dates. Will see how fast the EMS to UK takes.

Is anyone finding local post insanely slow as well...? Been waiting two weeks for a posted letter and other posted items are also taking forever (all Local).

CWU issues warning to Post Office over staff salaries

JOHANNESBURG – The Communication Workers Union (CWU) says it’s unacceptable that the Post Office is planning to pay its workers only half their salaries on Friday.

The South African Post Office has written to the union saying that it can only pay a portion of the salaries and the rest at the end of the month.

The union’s president Clyde Mervin says it’s unfair when their members have worked for a full calendar month and the parastatal is playing with fire.
